[Music], hi everyone welcome back to the color, cave it's Jim here and today we are, going to do something a little bit more, fun and though I did promise this video, some time ago and I am sufficiently, organized now in the cave to have found, things so today is the day we are going, to be working and magical done by Hannah, Carlson today and this is one of my, final it's not one of s my favorite, Hanukkah Rosenberg and today we are, going to try and do an entire page and, pan pastels now that's may or may not, work but we're going to give it a good, shot anyway so obviously the first thing, I need are my pine pasto so I've brought, them all here I've kind of got like a, pastel basket so everything's all in, here in addition to the actual pan pass, those as a few other items in my arsenal, today and it's something that if you, want to try I would highly recommend, having something similar the first is a, packet of baby weights or at least a wet, rag to wipe your hands on because it, doesn't matter how careful you are you, don't get past all on yourself the other, things I have are the Windsor and Newton, fixative and this is the Yale label one, which is the workable fixative, because we want to do this in layers so, that we can get as much depth and detail, and with the past was as possible if, here in the US or Australia I do believe, that the Kryolan one is more popular and, cheaper and more easily accessible left, here in the UK and Europe this is, readily available for most people so, yeah easy to get hold of I also have two, erasers here I have my different battery, operated eraser and I have this teeny, weeny tombow mono aerosol as well and, that's just to help me get into some, nooks and crannies I am gonna see how, their schools to begin with but I have a, sneaking suspicion that I will be going, in with some pastel pencils when we've, finished just to get some really fine, detail and I have the fabric a stale pet, pastel pencils these were actually a, wedding gift based waiting gift out of, everything and I favor these over some, of the other brands that I've tried, obviously other brands are available and, you can use whichever you please I find, that these go down particularly well on, top of the workable fixative though so, I'm quite happy, possibly with those should we need them, later on so I had to be very careful and, put page I was choosing to do because we, don't want anything with a huge amount, of detail beading and mean that we are, working with these massive pans and an, addition to that the smallest sort of, applicator we have is either cotton bud, for these sort of pallet Alec : palette, names or not names at all but you you, know you know what I'm talking about, and we also have some they're lik like, eyeshadow applicators so that's about as, faint as we're gonna get in terms of, being able to work in small spaces so I, did pick quite carefully when deciding, what image to use and I have a prompt, for this one here there is a particular, past all that I'm desperate to show you, and it's one that I haven't used it and, that is this absolutely a Regis sort of, pinky purple color I'm just going to, take this off so I can see what it's, called magenta Tschida as magenta it, looks absolutely gorgeous, and a cane I've got feeling that these, flowers might end up magenta what we, want to do first I'll just pop this out, that we just know as we want to think, about a color scheme and not necessarily, have it Satan's tool but we want to have, an idea of what colors we're going to, put we're so these are more my kind of, break colors, so we've got the magenta I've got this a, Regis yellow here I don't know whether, I'm gonna use that or not because as a, Regis so just unscrew all these at that, stage because I haven't used the pan, past those a lot I actually find it, easier to leave them all though and peck, out my colors rather than knew in my, head what I want to use for the picture, because obviously I can only work with, what I've got, now this is the first thing they're, speaking to me apart from this magenta, color which I think I'm going to use for, some of the petals as this sort of I was, going to see it's like a dark teal but, it's actually a turquoise shoot I kinda, want to use that as well so having those, there's my starting point I want to find, something that's perhaps going to go, with this magenta for our petals and I'm, thinking maybe this sort of peel pink, color might be quite, because we can mix them a little bit to, create different shades so even some of, this with a touch over the magenta and, it may turn out quite nicely and then I, can maybe use this part pool for the, bottom part of the flowers so we can see, how that goes for our flowers and I, think I might use this for the, background and peel it out to something, like this peel blue here see a little, blue tent that might work quite well and, then we've got the foliage which is, interesting I don't want it to go earthy, tones I want to kind of keep it quite, late so perhaps a mixture of this, getting here which is apathy or green, path heel and the permanent green tent, again we can kind of mix those together, so I think we'll go over those as a, starting point it's not to say we can't, use these other colors but I think that, might be a good place to at least make, her a star and just see how we get or, and as I said this is very experimental, today but you guys know I kind of like, stuff like this so I'll just pack the, rest of these away to the side just now, and then we can make a start with our, picture the next thing I've got here is, two sheets of Chief's ink paper and the, first one I am going to step down just, with some washi tape on the opposite, page there is going to be some we word, passed all dust that kinda goes without, seen with stuff like this using washi, tapes always a good option because it's, very low tack so when you go to actually, lift the sheet back off later on you're, less likely to take half all the people, are with you so I'm just going to talk, that right into the crease as best I can, and just place it down so our little, bird with our castle on its backs nice, and protected and if I get all squishy, fingers on it doesn't matter the second, sheet I am going to place behind the one, we're working on and that is really just, to catch any dust that's gonna spill all, over besides again that is highly likely, especially because this is me we're, talking about, not all my sleeves up as well so don't, wait indefinitely it wasn't either rate, so my approach to this is going to be, that we're going to start from the, background and work our way forward if, we think about working in layers as you, bid with your colored pencils or even, with your paint so you want to do the, background, I am gonna do my best to try and avoid, some of these intricate parts and it's, just so there's legs to Erie's once we, finish the first layer but I'm not, overly concerned about going over the, lanes because the pan parcels are very, very forgiving they're really easily, rubbed out so it's not too much of a, hassle and I do find that the larger, sponges are much better so I have a, selection of them here and they come in, all different shapes and they feel like, hard makeup sponges you know like a firm, makeup sponge I also have this huge like, oval sponge I haven't used it and I'm, created to try this because it'll go, just basically because it looks like fun, final simple things simple things so, start with our latest color which is, this lovely blue color I'm just gonna, left someone to the sponge I'm just, dabbing I'm not rubbing just dabbing, make sure that my she is in a sensible, place now I'm going to work right to, lift because I'm left-handed to see, that's all the thing but that saves you, dipping your dip in your fingers or your, elbow and something that you've already, done so we're going to ignore the, bubbles just know we'll do something, with them later but I just want to get a, layer of the slate color down see what, it looks like and then we can go from, there and straight away as I said I, haven't used that sponge before the the, color Lea dinosaur even that's just, fabulous I really like this sponge, I might actually buy a few more of these, one of my next projects with the pan, pastels as I am going to do a, large-scale version of the deer portrait, that I did again some of you me remember, that you can always go back and look for, that it was a few months ago and I'm, going to get a massive sheet of past, Alma and I'm going to redo it for my, staircase and heat in the new house and, you get the past all matte and massive, sheets of paper but I think I've sponge, that size would be really helpful, because I'm gonna have to cover a much, bigger area than I did previously when I, was testing it okay so I'm coming down, you can see I'm going over the petals, here but I'm not I'm not doing it, deliberately but I'm not trying to avoid, them either if, make sense you can cover a massive area, really really quickly and if you are a, pencil colorist then this is like heaven, it because pencils are the slowest, medium you will ever use apart from oils, but that's drying tame that's not actual, coverage this is just it's so refreshing, that's so nice okay so I'm gonna move to, a smaller sponge now because I want to, start maneuvering my way into some of, these gaps I'm gonna go to that showing, talked one and I same thing again I'm, just dabbing you do not need to place, hard and here if you start hacking away, at it with your sponge you're gonna ruin, your sponges really quickly and I, learned that from last time you can be, pretty gentle and you will still pick up, a lot of pasto and that's one of the, main differences are fine between pan, pastels and other brands of parcels that, are little better that seems to go are, really really long we get this down, that's this quite surreal today because, I'm sitting here chitchat no he is, normal and it's really odd because I, know that Mama James in the next room, and I don't know it's kind of unnerving, because normally when I film these, videos I'm just I'm just here with the, dogs and the cave doing my thang not, used to having people in my house you, better make sure to behave myself and, don't see anything offensive because, you'll show at me I'm just going to go, further room to your say we can only, sell less so that's not a problem you, can see I'm using my middle finger there, just to pen the page down or in the park, suite I've not put any park still and, again that stops you getting past all on, your fingers and then inadvertently you, know putting it down somewhere here you, don't want to so I'm gonna move to this, darker color now whoa and I'm going to, use one of these eyes shadow applicators, I don't know how well you would get on, with actually buying eyeshadow, applicators I don't think there would be, much difference and cost wise it would, probably be cheaper as well if anybody, has tried that her prime past was please, let me know because I am curious right, okay so now I want to decide where I'm, putting in this darker color how far up, do I want it to come and the answer to, that is I don't know I think maybe like, and I say miss article about here, somewhere so I'm just going to work my, way around again not deliberately going, over these leaves down at the bottom but, not really making an effort to avoid, them so this is going to take a bit of, working and because we're working over, this peeler color we are going to have, to sort of blend and so this may take, only it or two to get it the way we want, it because I'm thinking I sort of like a, gradient here I still don't imagine that, this is going to take too long yeah I, think maybe we'll take up heat a little, bit to see how that goes and then we can, just sort of take her or friend here, okay so this little coroner's governed, me a good idea of what we're looking, like and what the color is looking like, now I'm not pressing hard with my little, sponge here just get this in circular, motions I know some of you are always, looking for the you know smooth, perfection when you do stuff like this, well I applaud anyone that has really, smooth backgrounds I can't offend them a, little bit borden if I'm honest I like, to have a little bit of texture and, that's one of the reasons I love working, in paints will feel stop so when it, comes to this passed or I'm not I'm not, really looking for a completely smooth, flat background but as you can see it's, very much achievable so I'm just, building this up now I don't know how, much more passed all this paper will, take in terms of layers I suppose that's, something that could be tested out, beforehand but there's not a lot of room, and Hannah's books to taste stuff like, that there's maybe like a page at the, back but we're doing okay so far so far, so good I do find that when I'm doing, projects like this I actually find it, easier to gauge what's going on by, looking at the monitor which is up here, it's something I find really helpful, because it gives me a viewpoint that's a, bit further away than weed I am actually, setting and for those of you who want to, do this that don't have a carbon are, hanging above your head they get a good, idea to that is just to stand up and, sort of peer donator or even walk away, it's really good to walk away and come, back you know just with a fresh pair of, eyes because I always think that you see, a lot more when you've done that you, if you've been sent in squinting at, something for a couple of hours you you, get that all you can't see the wood for, the trees sort of situation and it is, good to get up and just walk away and, you can come back and see where things, need adjusted or you know who you need, to add things and or take things are we, that's a piece of advice I would give to, anybody about any type of our get up and, walk away take a break does you're good, obviously you come back and you can see, all your mistakes if you wanted a more, intense version of this turquoise down, at the bottom you could put some of it, down before you put the peel blue down, you know just on like the bottom half of, the picture of that would work quite, well as well because naturally it's, slightly diluted if that's the caked, fleas because we've put the peel blown, blue it down before it comes the fun, part, I'm gonna take my battery-operated, eraser and I'm starting to start, cleaning up range the areas where we, don't want the pastel, the other thing that's quite handy when, you're doing this is to have a soft, brush like this this is just a cheap, makeup brush and it came in I see it and, when I feel the bristles I thought oh, that'd be perfect front for a dusting or, we mean I'm doing arty stuff so it's no, longer and no longer lives in my Miami, Pop Keith's so this is literally just, working my way around and saved the lane, work and cleaning up so that's all the, petals and the leaves down the bottom, here and I'm also going to take out some, of these baubles as well probably not, all of them but some of them so I will, go ahead and do that and I'll catch you, up when I am finished so that took a wee, bit longer than I thought that took me, about ten minutes and I did find it, using this tombow mono eraser you know, that's that's all mechanical razor, ariza was much better for getting into, these tight spaces here like these, little stalks and stems so know that I'm, happy that that is the background glare, I want to just fix this to the paper so, that it's not going to go anywhere when, you're using this effective you do need, to use in a well-ventilated area so I'm, going to take this outside spear and, later it dry and then when we come back, we can start on some of our love, flowers so I was just having a we think, kraler is waiting for that to dry and, I'm going to go between these leaves and, stems and the flowers and again I'm just, gonna work my way over I genuinely don't, think I'm starting with this paler green, here the sort of minty green color and, I'm using this little kind of eye shadow, tape applicator again I really don't, think we're going to get much DT or I'm, not that skilled with something that, it's got that kind of tip on it so even, if we get most of the book coloring and, and some of the shading I think we'll be, doing well and after that we will, probably have to switch over to some, pastel pencils but I just wanted to go, through the process and really just see, for you know what could be achieved by, doing this with the pan pastels I mean, really they weren't designed for, coloring you know things like this and I, colored in boot but they are very very, good for backgrounds but if you are only, using them for about greens they are, pretty expensive so I don't know I think, you have to be able to justify with a, needle budget whether or not something, like that is worth it I would say, however especially when it comes to, backgrounds and coloring books if, there's a particular color or set of, colors that you use a lot it would be, well worth investing and you know just a, pan of each of those colors because they, do go a long way and I have a feeling, that one of these pans would last a, significantly longer time than a stack, of chalk pastel okay I'm just trying to, get a nice or solid lead of this green, dome and it's kind of merging and with, my background which I'm not overly happy, about I'm gonna seek a safe lock located, I'm trying to keep these colors as, safely as possible, I think I may actually try a cotton bud, Cedar's McCain of experimenting today in, fact even better I've got a blend and, stomp pure I aside from paper the other, thing that I have an endless supply of, is blending stumps and I have no idea, why I have no idea why so I'm gonna take, this really bright green and I'm just, gonna pop the end of my blind didn't, stomp on it and give it a little smoke, whoo and I just wanted to go down oh wow, yeah, I just want to go down this Stamper a, little bit and see what we can do here, I'm not even happy with the way that, this is going down it is very uneven, maybe get zoomed in a little bit now, seen as we're working on of the details, yes as if the the fixative doesn't want, to pick up the past all and this is not, something that I've ever had an issue, with and I've used this fixative with, all my past or stuff I think it's, probably the blending stop but I just, don't have something small enough that's, gonna fit in this gap so the addenda the, first challenge with it using pan, pastels I mean that's just not gonna, happen, it's go ahead and down much better doing, that I'll just call that scrap of paper, here as well I'm just gonna try and sort, of dab off some of the some of the, excess off this applicator try and sort, of get a bit of dimension and in these, leaves and that seems to work quite well, so let's move onto these flowers and for, this I'm going to use that rounded end, pallet knife thing palette squishy do, free Bob and I'm just gonna go neat part, pool, I'm are we better scaled about this I'm, not gonna lie now I found that with this, a lot of it is just getting the right, angle that is so great I don't often use, really bright colors so I'm just gonna, enjoy this as much as I can I was kinda, thinking the bottom of these flowers, though we're the pattern is you know, critics caught the end say that's gonna, be the same color as the leaves that's, my theory anyway whether or not we've, managed that is another matter entirely, this is really difficult, I still haven't depth this applicator, back in the past although this is still, like the same the same sweep of past all, is still going there's 80 years we don't, want to be darker and later and sort of, make these parts definitely and cheat a, little bit more and I just can't do it, because the clumsiness factor is huge, and I've got a duck tail a big punch, there I'll take this out with my my tone, book mm-hmm and I'll just try and fill, this and as best I can, or while we I'm gonna see at this early, stage where and you have only just, started like the detail of, the picture this is a really bad idea, I'm still determined what I'm gonna do, as much as possible with these pan, pastels before a jump over to our friend, the pencil gem and the caves permanent, fled into the pencil the humble pencil, okay I don't know how y'all feeling, about that I don't know how I'm feeling, about that geez I've got these sections, here that's the suite I'm excited about, my magenta and I think we'll have to, stick with these these little, applicators I don't think there's any, other option at this stage really with, this I'm super excited about this color, just because it's a Regis and other, reason why would you look at that try, not to contaminate my property I don't, know whether I should have been doing, this in layers again but it seems to me, that that would be a lot of faff in, about just for you know the sake of, these tiny little sections I'm just, gonna try and build up this color and, make it as rich as possible, oh here's pepp I think she's been, rumbling about your mama Jim but she's, coming sat on our chair it's no longer, do you know the the armed cheetah and, the cave is just pitched here oh my did, not go according to plan at all I can, see first certain that these parts, trained here like these kind of apron, flows were definitely not going to be, doing that with them with these that's, for sure, and I have passed all all over my car, happy Dee's forgot about rule that my, sleeves back off okay that's this kind, of like residual pastel no and I just, want to sort of squish that along these, edges there is that very technical, freeze again discretion along obviously, and then I'm gonna blend some of the, spiel pink that we picked out earlier, and we can see how that goes that might, be fun not to begin my thumb just Lee in, the collar down and I'm just sort of, bringing them edge to edge and once I've, laid all the color down then I can start, blending them together let's see how, this goes blondie blondie okay so far so, good I think I'm gonna continue on and, do, these are the flowers I'm gonna speed, this back up through because they'll be, really boring for you to watch and I, shall catch you back up once we have, done the rest of these followers and, things sounds good to me, [Music], you, [Music], okay there we go I have felt into my, flowers I'm just gonna zoom and a little, bit and let you see how pat either says, as not I do and it is very difficult to, smooth out on this paper and these small, spaces with the tools that we have, available to us however I do not feel, that we have lost anything and I'm still, pretty optimistic at this point because, because because now that we have all our, pan passed all down and I have done all, that I'm not even going to use the word, shading that would I would have to use, that very loosely but now that we've got, colors then I am going to tidy up these, edges and then I'm going to crack open, the pastel pencils and we're gonna make, this come to life so I think at this, point the consensus is that the pan, pastels are great for covering large, areas and especially if it's open spaces, definitely good for things like skin, tones where you need to blend quite a, bit and also for backgrounds as we've, already discussed so that is my not very, professional opinion at this stage but, let's just see what we can do from this, going on no weather pencils so I'm just, going to pick out similar shades to what, I have used maybe just slightly darker, than what we've used in the pan pastels, and we can pick out some of the details, and see what we can do to add a little, bit of depth so that's because it does, look very flat right now I've just threw, in a post-it note in the been the one, that I was using to dab off my my, sponges on and peppers just retrieve it, from the vendor's notating at two shades, on the carpet I love having dogs so I do, have my swatches here that says my my, swatch book that keep everything in and, I do have all my pastel pencils washed, out and I keep a little sheet of that, tracing paper over the top of it it has, got effect stove on it but it's just to, stop anything transferred in over to the, other side so I'm going to use this as a, reference now to try and pick out some, colors that are going to go with what, we've got still trying to squish this up, so that you can see so thank you first, of all about the background I'd quite, like to take either 1 4 9 or 1 5 5 here, to just add a little bit down in the, bottom here, so I think will be a little bit believer, and we'll go that we Betty darker so I'm, gonna go one five five and it will be, interesting to see how this behaves on, top of what's already there so again, just a little bit of an experiment here, but I just want to see if we can go in, and talk here now it's quite boring, comparison but what I'm hoping is it's, gonna make some of these or leaves stand, out a little bit more and there you go, that's and that's an ideal example down, here you can see that the paler colors, popping out from the page a little bit, more no no the areas where I've got sort, of a thicker amine over the pan past all, the pencils not going down all that, wheel but I think we're going to do it, okay job with this now I'm hoping that, if I take this cotton bud and you can, see that I can smooth out this pencil, just spread it over a bit over the top, of what's already there so you can see, the difference that it's making though, you could take that as far off as you, like and I think I'm gonna go mmm I'm, fact no I'd you know what I think I'm, just gonna keep it reader is I'm quite, happy so just building up a better color, here and very gently blend you know what, we've put down in pencil and I'll just, start tickling the paper here and you, can see it's made these bottom leaves, just stand out that little bit more and, I picked out a couple of colors for the, leaves as well I've got a this one five, nine which is a darker green and I was, just going to use that to put in a wee, bit of definition and detail on some of, these areas here and I'm kind of I'm, kind of picking and choosing so quickly, but a shadow in there use this as kind, of like a shadow, now some areas are picking this up, better than others and there are some, areas where the the pencil just doesn't, go in down at all and that may be to do, with a combination of the paper and the, fixative as realize that their main of, past all that we've got down because it, seems to be the areas where there's less, pastel it's picking up more of the paint, so and I've got this nice turquoise, as well and I was going to use that on, some of these leaves here again not, pecky not much of that it's just going, on better and some ideas than others to, that select Oh about disappointing, because I was hoping that we would be, able to really add some more to this and, it's just not going down at all, I'm trying my hardest here but nothing's, happening that's turquoise a pencil that, I've got though I am gonna use this on, these on these pattern videos I want to, call this like a thrill or an apron for, some reason because it reminds me of you, know an old-fashioned grandmother's, apron or something you would wait in the, 60s or 70s to bake your cookies or your, Barone's pretty sure my gran had an, apron like this oh boy in fact she's, probably still go to actually I must ask, her next time I'm chatting to her now, it's definitely the combination of the, pastel and the fixative because and, these areas where there's no past or is, taking less pain so like a boss so there, we go that's answered that question for, us okay now as a picture I mean, technically you could see it is finished, I'm not satisfied with this at all and, this latest I think there's way more, that could be done with it so I am going, to continue to plug away and see what I, can achieve and I'm gonna grab some, Posca pins, yeah I'm really just not I'm not happy, with the flowers it's mainly the flowers, so I want to see what I can do here and, I do have some sparkly pins which is, interesting but I don't know if any of, the colors are actually going to tie in, with what we've got got this sparkly, purple color which me or me no I think I, think it's actually too close to to, what's here no I'm just gonna try oh wow, let's see what we can do make this maybe, a wee bit more you bet more exciting, it's making it marginally more, interesting I'm not sure how much of the, sparkle you're going to see either the, sparkle as quate, it's quite delicate and these, but you can see here just naturally the, what has happened as the the purple has, got that sort of whitish edge on it and, it's just weird I've stopped when I've, been rubbing it and some cane are gonna, take advantage of this and I've got a, white pastel pencil here and I'm just, going to sort of emphasize that a long, list edge and maybe you try and bring, that down slightly yeah that's okay, that's really is like a massive, experiment today it's kind of cool, though because it's things that I, wouldn't necessarily have looked at or, tried if it hadn't been asked for by you, guys so yeah thanks again everyone and, the way it seems to be going down quite, nicely and again we've only got one, layer of of pastel here so that's quite, quite tailing I think that is instantly, better I'm kind of the other I'm not, really using a particular method at any, point here I'm just kind of like working, section by section and eyeballing it to, see if maybe we can spice things up a, little bit then I'm pretty sure that the, sparkle isn't going to show up on the, camera and even when the paint's drying, it's not really standing out a huge, amount but when you tilt and the light, you can see the sparkle and it's quite a, subtle Sparkle by like that I don't like, you know massive glittery yes I'm really, really not into that at all okay I'm, kind of happy that I've rescued the, purple bits I don't know what I'm gonna, do about these leaves though if all else, fails make it sparkly oh I do have a, green Sparkle I think cool just maybe, pop this and the poppies and the stems, you know and again have this as an, accent more than anything else yeah okay, okay okay right now onto these petals, and things goodness knows what I'm gonna, do with these I've got that's a really, nice color this was a pain that I got in, an OP Creek and I'm really curious, because I haven't tried this at all, I actually haven't used these supplies, by Scott, massive newborn it oh good if I don't, know how we're gonna go on with us I was, going to do these little sections here, and there's kind of hoping probably a, couple pinky purpley this particles, going to be to one seeing that that, could left in our favorite Israel I'm, just thinking out loud here guys this is, like a lilac color but I'm just gonna be, believe I'm just gonna do it mmm yeah, okay okay I think it's wise not to, overdo it with this maybe like um a less, is more approach these are kind of, starting to remind me of peacock, feathers a little bit now moving on to, this turquoise part I really don't know, what I'm gonna do with this am I, actually thinking of putting a blue over, the top of it but again I may live to, regret this decision, hmm that's not really doing anything for, me unless we've got the petals okay now, I'm just laying in everything with, reading pause Capades just to make it, wouldn't taste and no the question is is, this going to ruin it, probably yeah that was a really bad idea, not one of my better ideas but we've, started so we can continue I do think it, looks okay around here ring the tops of, the petals all oh can you just pep likes, kidding about the house just just being, outrageous this afternoon, I deeply regret the failings but I'm, just screwing any me okay lastly I've, got a white polka pin here and I am just, going to catch these dolls and lift, flowers and the weights actually stand, in it quite nicely against this peel, pink I'm gonna take that spill pink that, I used before and I am just going to, pick out the smaller bubbles that don't, have a reflection on them so you can see, there's some here, both massive sigh from pet don't, goodness me it's a terribly hard life, being a pepper in case you didn't know, that already guys I'm sure you did, though such a hard hardly no I'm not I'm, not doing them all I just wanted to pick, out one or two and it's really to help, tie the colors from the, bottom of the picture into the top of, the picture and I walk we're going to, take turquoisey color and again same, thing not gonna do them all but just, wanted to pick one or two random there, we go, I am quite tempted to start putting, different things on these bubbles up, here but I think it might ruin it did I, oh why not, infla penny in for a pound now go back, to this pink again I'll just do this one, the big bubbles okay there we go guys I, think I'm gonna stop the art and call it, quits now if I just zoom out let's just, talk about experiences I I don't think, pang pasta is good for a fill page I, think we've established that that is not, the way forward just on account of as, difficult to get into tight spaces with, it and it's difficult to blend when, you're working in a small surface area, of such as things like these petals and, this is by no means a simple in all, people I would call an open pigeon with, lots of large surface areas so the more, detailed your page for an example the, one next door you'd have no chance in, here, so I would say as I kind of like, mentioned before I would say to for, things like skin tones and mixing like a, beast to infer skin and for backgrounds, pan fossils all the way detail was not, so much and I was quite surprised that, the paper and the pastor doesn't take, more of the pastel pencil over the top, with it so again you know I like to show, the good with the bad, I would like to see it based I have a, rescued s Anna is by no means my based, colouring ever but today was an, experiment and I like to do the wall FS, and if we can learn something from it, then absolutely fab and I have learned, today that Posca paint effects is, everything any of you guys I hope you've, enjoyed just watching this just even if, it's just to satisfy your curiosity the, last thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna, spray this once more with fixative I do, that with all my coloring pages anyway, the post campaign is not likely to go, anywhere but I'm just wondering whether, or not you can actually see any of the, sparkle in the way if I tip the page I, think, see on the purple a little bit maybe not, so much the green but still the good, experiment I've had great fun doing that, study there was one of those ones would, seem to just be using every artists a, play that's kicking about in the cave, but we got there eventually so all that, remains is to remain jus that the, birthday cover we as still open entries, for that gather we close this coming, Sunday so get yourself sorted out and, get yourself entered by watching the, video which is on the end card and you, maybe end with a chance to win our prize, winners will be announced next thirsty, so a week from today is when the winners, will be notified alright guys that is, that for today thanks very much for, coming to hang out and we'll see you, back in the cave really soon for another, video bye for now everyone, you

My idea: to build a community of topical-hand-edited news pages. I want to start in the tech community working to recruit editors/experts to build pages covering programming languages and popular technologies. Think of it as an alternative to blogs, tweets, and social link sites. Here an expert can build out a page with the most useful links and highlight news items that he/she knows are important to the community. Everything is tabulated into one easy to scan page. This is all managed via a drop and drop interface.

The short intro video should give more context about how the site works:

http://mostrecent.net/help/introclip/

I'm just getting out of my 'soft launch' phase and the JavaScript page I've built has already started making the rounds and gaining regular readers. It is a good example of what I'm going for:

http://mostrecent.net/javascript/

We are still in beta and more features are coming. My eventual business plan is to place ads on the pages with an aggressive editor rev share program. There are a number of pages at various levels of development on the site, but I know for a fact we still need pages covering ruby, java, flash, perl, lisp, tech startups, apple, c# and much more (in case anyone is interested).

Thanks for your time and attention! I look forward to your feedback..
,VC's: Experienced 50 year old with good ideas. Will you talk to me?For context:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6932327

I have a ton of business and tech experience. I've launched several garage businesses. One did really well but the economy, circumstances and a perennially under-funded state (hardware is capital intensive) killed it. All were interesting experiences.

I've never raised any money. I self-funded everything I've ever done. The last one to the tune of over half a million dollars of my own money. I am no stranger to being all-in and putting it all on the line for something I believe in.

Circumstances are different now. Either I take my time and bootstrap from small to large projects or look for investors.

Sadly, I will not move to SV and I will not live on noodles. Bummer.

I have identified two opportunities I think have merit.

The first is a pure software web/mobile service. As is often the case, it is a twist on existing product. I believe the twist is what makes it very interesting, gives it wide appeal and could make it huge. It can go global. I have a 70 page deck covering just about every aspect of this venture. No, it's not a new Facebook. It's a B-to-B, C-to-C (and permutations thereof) service.

The second is a novel use of quadcopters. No regulatory issues I am aware of. Sizable world-wide appeal. This is definitely a case of first-mover advantage. With proper funding and support, execution would be fast and painless. This wouldn't be a an R&D project. This is a D project. Define, develop and go to manufacturing. Heard of "live long and prosper"? This one is "move fast and conquer". Probably the Klingon version. I don't have a deck on this one. It's a recent discovery of mine and I've put zero time into developing a deck. With one video I can show anyone this is a good idea.

Looking for a low impedance bank account to help launch either or both of these..
,Xoopit for Gmail ClosingDear Xoopit for Gmail user,

We will be officially turning off Xoopit for Gmail on November 13, 2009, to focus our efforts on making My Photos for Yahoo! Mail an amazing product and bring those features to all Yahoo! Mail users. Given our focus, we decided we cannot adequately support the Xoopit for Gmail product and give you a great experience in the future. Here are some details to guide you through this transition.

Do I need to download any files or pictures?

Most Xoopit for Gmail users follow standard Gmail conventions and choose to archive—not delete—mail. In this case all of your data should still be accessible via Gmail. If you have ever posted to a blog from Xoopit you should download those photos and host them on another site (e.g., Flickr). If you do not download these photos by November 13, 2009, you will no longer be able to access them through Xoopit.

Are there Gmail features that can help me?

Yes! The following Gmail Labs features may help with your migration away from Xoopit.

    * Search AutoComplete
* YouTube previews in mail
* Picasa previews in mail
* Flickr previews in mail
* Google Search

You can also do searches like 'filename:(jpg OR png)' (to see all the emails that have photo attachments) or 'has:attachments' (for all the emails with attachments). See Gmail's page on Advanced Search for more details. You won’t have the exact same experience as Xoopit, but it will help.

To help you through this transition, we've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions and resources here.

Thank you for using Xoopit for Gmail. We’ll miss you!

The Xoopit team.

,Ask HN: A Rapportive-esque Email CRM for small businesses and startups? As a small startup that sells to enterprises, we've been looking high and low for a collaboration-centric CRM that bridges the gap between the email and CRM silos, yet we've found almost every solution we've tried wanting, and we've tried a handful to say the least.

While we interact with our customers primarily via email, because most commercial CRMs are a completely separate silo, multiple problems arise:

-We have little or no context (about contacts or opportunities) while looking at an email, although we might have added relevant information / notes to the CRM.

-The email inbox and the CRM are eternally out of sync, necessitating a lot of duplicated data entry and resulting in incomplete account / opportunity information.

-The context-switching overhead associated with frequently toggling between email and the CRM.

What we've really been looking for:

1) Activity Feed: A simple, concise stream of updates for each and every account / opportunity, so we're all on the same page and we've recorded the entire history of our interactions with a customer for posterity.

2) Email Bridge: When the CRM is a separate silo, a huge amount of duplicate data entry results. Tight email integration via a Rapportive-esque widget for GMail / Outlook that lets me associate mails with opportunities, and view contextual information within the inbox. This includes email-CRM sync, so that contacts are up to date.

3) Task Management: A basic task manager that integrates with my calendar and email (the ability to create tasks from emails and have them appear in my calendar) .

4) Simple CRM: The ability to create accounts / opportunities and add collaborators.

5) Mobile: A simple mobile web app to access contacts / relevant data when on the move was imperative.

6) Basic Reporting: A concise dashboard that lets me visualize a few key metrics (optional).

What we observed (I'm covering only some of the more famous tools that we tried. I don't mean to criticize these tools, I'm only trying to point out that they did not work for our use-case):

-Sugar CRM, while infinitely malleable and extensible, was never built for collaboration.

-Salesforce: The same might be said of SalesForce - too complicated / clunky, too focused on reporting / analytics, and too expensive for a small team anyway.

-Fat Free CRM was a bit too spartan and ended up being inflexible to the point that we had to discard it.

-Insightly, a CRM that integrates deeply with Google Apps seemed promising at first blush, but we found it far from usable from a collaboration standpoint. Too many clicks needed to get anything done.

-Highrise was simple and well designed, but their email integration was far too convoluted for our liking.

-Zoho CRM seemed to possess most of the features that we were looking for, but the user experience left so much to be desired that we had to walk away.

-While Rapportive and Xobni certainly have their merits (and I'm a big fan), they're too basic and contact-centric to really considered sales CRMs.

So, is there a simple CRM for startups and small businesses that integrates tightly and plays well with email? Is this a pain point that resonates with any other HNers?

NOTES:

1] I'm aware that a)CureCRM and b)Xobni Pro + the SalesForce Gadget are approximate enterprise versions of what we're looking for, but a small startup like ours cann't afford to use SalesForce.

2] Nimble CRM is a new social CRM for Google Apps that looks quite interesting. They try to be your consolidated inbox, and I'm a bit loath to use anything other than good old GMail for email. I will give them a spin, though..

,Another AirBnB Host Horror StoryQuoraQuora connects you to everything you want to know about.
LoginSign UpAirbnb:

Has anyone had the experience of your Host listings being turned off by AirBnB due to bringing to their attention problems with their platform and procedures?
John Cohen, NYC HostYes

AirBnB recently hid all my listings. At the same time they cancelled over 19 bookings adding up to over $7000 dollars most likely more. Here is a copy of the email sent to those inconvenienced persons.

Dear xxxx,
We were just informed by John Cohen that your accommodation starting on xxx, April xx, 2012 (reservation xxxxxxx) is no longer available. You should know that hosts are penalized for canceling reservations and removed from our site if they do so frequently.

I am no longer able to access my account to see my future payouts -- approximately $2000 dollars -- or when I will recieve $954.

At the suggestion of an experienced attorney I have backed all information that was in my account including changes that were occurring after AirBnB shut off my listings.

I cannot prove what the customer service supervisor said over the phone but I will quote 'We have discussed it among ourselves', 'There are simply too many customer service requests from your account', 'You can apply in two months to be re-instated.'

After careful review of the backups it appears to be 21 bookings not 17. As of this date several guests are living in my home. Booked through airBnB. I have no idea if I will be paid for their stay. Here is a short list of my Complaints that resulted in AirBnb hiding my listings.

1) Peer review process as implemented is being used by a few guests as a threat of a 'Bad review' if I do not bend to demands for services not offered. Or if I attempt to enforce the House rules such as under age drinking or cleanig up after themselves.( Threse guests have no reviews of their own.)

2) Security Hole. Apparently airBnB does not maintain any information of the Guest of the guest.

3) CSR who answer the phones are given extraordinary power to rush to a judgement without giving the Host the benefit of the doubt.

4) Reservvation panel is a Mess if you are a busy Host. Dificult to make heads or tales from this. Even the CSR.

5) Bad reviews which are not opinion but statements of Fact. Say about the cleanliness of a Host. 'Place smells like Garbage' Bathroom's are dirty' by a guest who frequently broke house rules.

6) A clear and convincing connection between Guests who them selves have no reviews making a complaint or bad review on a Host who has asked them courteously to obey House rules.

7) Repeatedly blocking out up to 10 days or more on a room until an investigation is complete. Finding the Host acted properly

8) Many of my customer service calls were about parts of the WebSite not working or learning how to nagivate it properly. I have bad eye sight and need new glasses. EG recently a part of the listings page failed to show up where
prominently it states Host has PETS. Two guests allergic to Cats appeared.

. Though my listing clearly states CATS. I had to have my House keeper Vacume 2,000 square feet. So that the guests could finish their bookings. My cats were trapped in my bedroom for two weeks.

9) Security deposit is not a security deposit. Never in my Life have I been
compelled to negotiate with a petty thief

Their is a lot more. 24/7 is not 24/7 due to the lack of enouph Human Infrastructure to handle the Volume of calls. Resulting in knee jerk reaction's
and bad decision making.

I cannot help get the feeling that AirBnb in my opinion would like low end Hosts to quietly fade and disappear in to the night.

This one will not.

The average star rating of my spare bed rooms was 4.5 Stars.

Skirting around the Franchise laws of the State of New York and the Federal Franchise Laws.

Skirting around the case law in New York State concerning Defamation and Slander.

And who knows what else. (SPIONS)

I am a fundamentaly good New Yorker. I am confident that my fellow New Yorkers will hear my cry for HELP.

I have been crippled financially by AirBnB's actions. Humiliated. Down but not out. I have nothing to loose. I am old sickly.

I stayed here because I didn't want to
spend a fortune in a hotel, so I booked at John's place. My room was
pretty cozy, clean and had air conditioner (which was really helpful
on those cold nights). The living room/kitchen/dinning room was ok,
and I liked the fact that there were other guests living there as
well and I met a lot of interesting people. I would recommend your
stay here if you want to save money, socialize with other cultures
and know how to clean after yourself (important part). It is up to
you if you want a clean room. The walls are really thin and sometimes
you can hear everything from the room next to yours, but overall, it
is good place for low price.

Lauren
Don't expect luxury & do not come
here if you're allergic to cats as John has 2 (very cute) or if you
don't know how to clean up after yourself (you will get told!). This
place is secure and very affordable for those on a budget, the
beds/toilets/towels are clean and John offers coffee every morning.
All in all, if you can forego any frills and live in a hostel
environment, this is a good deal. If not, try the Waldorf Astoria.

Viola
The place is just two blocks from the
subway stop and it really takes 10 minutes to get to Manhattan so is
ideal if you don't want to waste your day travelling. I have found
quite a friendly bunch of people living in John's loft and John
himself is a very helpful person. I would suggest to guests who have
never seen NYC to ask him tips on what's worth seeing in the City.
The constant presence of coffee in the place was, also, very much
appreciate!!! My overall experience was pretty positive and I would
recommend it.

Peter
John was a very nice host. The room is
great value for money. Expect no luxury, 'this isn't the
Waldorf-Astoria', as John would say. But it's a room, more or
less private, allthough you can hear everything that's going on in
the livingroom. But if you're in NYC for a few days, it's a great,
cheap spot. The room I rented had some temperture-issues, the heater
was a bit hard to control, and made some loud noises sometimes, but
John told me this in advance. He was helpful all the way.

Kyle
It was a nice private room! John was
very helpful in getting me acclimated to New York City, and he even
made me a nice BLT sandwich right when I arrived!

David
Relacin calidad precio muy buena.
Barrio'aburrido' pero el piso est muy bien conectado
(parada de metro cerca). Spermercado cerca. Lo recomiendo
positivamente para pasar ah unas vacaciones. John personalmente me
libre. No s que hubiese pasado si no hubiera habido alguna
habitacin libre. En definitiva es un buen sitio para pasar tus
vacaciones en NY a muy buen precio.

Johannes
Best bang for the buck. Don't expect
luxury and don't be too picky, but there's everything you need and
it's a private room at a great rate. Quite uncomplicated, I could do
some short notice extension as I decided to stay one night longer,
and then even one more.

Iveta
I've recently stayed at the shared room
for 5 nights. It was a great experience, I can recommend this rental.
John is a great host, he is going out of his way to accommodate
everybody's requests. He is friendly and he is a great cook too! I am
planning to be back in New York at the end of April and I will stay
at this place again. I think that says a lot! it is a great place for
a great price.

New
Johns place is as described, a huge
and quiet loft that he built. Not luxury but its a good way to save
money if youre going to expend the whole day exploring the city.
Its close to the subway station wiht direct line to manhattan (A
and C line). John makes coffee every morning for the guests and he
cleans the bathrooms every morning as well.

Veronika
Great way to save money on a trip to
NYC. Bring your own blankets because it gets very cold at night and
there are none for you to use. The area is safe enough but it gets
very deserted at night. Coffee in the mornings was great. Don't
expect any privacy or luxury staying here but it is a cheap way to
see NYC. FYI, smoking is allowed indoors and there are two cats.
Average age of other guests is 22-25.

Another host nearby could not host me.
He sent me to John's place. As a young 18 year old french woman
traveling alone I am careful. The accommodations were incredible for
just $10. per day. $11. with the AirBnB fee. It is a medium size
room. Very bright. Sun drenched as the host John says. Though it has
4 twin beds on 2 wooden bunks and one twin it is not cluster phobic.
It is meant as a budget shared room to sleep in. The vanity was nice.
Storage that I locked with a padlock. The rest of the Loft is large.
Balcony's, gigantic rear deck and a giant private roof with nice
views including Manhattan. I had the room all by myself. But met
several interesting Europeans from Germany and Italy renting the
private rooms. The common area is large. Nice kitchen dining area.
Unusual. The large refrigerator is in the same room as the shower.
John is an artist. The shower room is large. The host was very
helpful. He showed me how to use the MTA Trip planner to efficiently
travel to my activities in Manhattan. John has to be the best Host on
AirBnB and possibly all of NYC ! Twice he made me a delicious meal !
3-4 Minute walk to Subway. A metro. 20 minutes 34 street Manhattan
off peak ! I am glad the other host cancelled. $10. nightly. safe,
clean convenient, food. #1 host and place to stay in NYC. Oh it is
$10. for thirty day stay. The price is more expensive for 3 days or a
week but still cheapest in NYC ! Thank you John. 5 stars. He deserves
10 stars !

Guido
John is a very good host... the loft is
in a good neighborhood just short walk from a supermarket and utica
subway station... and just 20 minutes far from Manhattan with public
transprtation!!! Sure i would be back there next time i'm going to
NYC! and if you are a good traveler who really wants to discover the
real life of the place you are visiting sure you'll enjoy this place.
Very safe, good wi fi connection, clean and easy! see you next time
John!

This accomodation is by far the best
value for a short-stay room in New York that I have seen. The cost
for my own room per night actually worked out even cheaper than a
hostel where a person would share a full dormitory of 6-8 people.
This place was great value - and I had my own room. The host was very
helpful. My first experience of his helpfulness was when I noticed
that my computer cable had broken. When I asked him if he knew where
I could get a replacement in the city, he actually went out of his
way to fix the cable for me! He saved me a number of bucks doing
this, and also saved me the time it would have taken to locate the
replacement. Big thanks to him for that. And that was just the first
day. The host has coffee on the stove every morning. It is also
likely he will cook something for you a few times during your stay.
It could be a roast, or it could be a big breakfast sandwich that
will keep you going for a number of hours. The crowd that I came
across in the place was mostly young and vibrant and interesting. It
is a good place for you to meet up with like-minded adventurers in
the city of New York. The host has a large amount of very practical
local knowledge. He has a large willingness to share very useful
knowledge with you. This was invaluable for me because, as a
soon-to-be qualified attorney, I was in town to find out the
possibilities of locating a long-term apartment lease and a job in
the city. The host went out of his way to share his valuable
knowledge with me about these things. The host is worth listening to
carefully. The quality of the place was very satisfactory. If you are
a complainer or nit-picker, or have impossibly high standards, don't
waste anybody's time and get a 150 buck a night hotel instead.
However, if you want something with great value and have realistic
expectations of what great value is, then you will really benefit
from staying in a place like this. Even though I give a 4-star rating
(which is very good), I actually give the extra 5th star in the
rating when I factor in the price and all the extras. Again, have
realistic expectations for a place in this price range, and
appreciate good value when you see it, despite being a little rough
around the edges. Furthermore, as time goes on, the host continually
makes improvements to the place and has a genuine commitment to
creating accomodation that adds value to the people who stay there. I
expect the place will only become better and better in the future.

Matthew
5 stars! I had a great stay with John
in his loft apartment. His description of the living space is very
accurate. My room was clean and spacious, the loft was quiet through
the night (had no disruptions from flatmates in other rooms), the
bathrooms were clean and John even cooked 2 meals for me during my
stay (quite the chef I might add)! For the price range and location,
this listing can't be beat!

Stephanie
John is a welcoming friendly host.
Staying at his place in a private room beats staying at a hostel
sharing with 3-11 other unknowns. Also he makes sure he only rents to
non-sketchy people, which can only be a good thing. It's close to
Manhattan, the neighbourhood doesn't look safe but is actually
really ok and I doubt you can get a better deal than this. Peace out!

J. B.
John is a gracious and welcoming host.
The property is as described, and the bed is very comfortable. The
place (as stated) is rough-hewn, but clean, quiet., and comfortable.
The A train express is just two blocks away, so this is very
convenient to Manhattan.

Stephanie
We transferred to another room because
it was cheaper. But it's not that small - still a good size AND it's
private after all. John offered us some dinner one day which was
pretty darn good. He does keep things clean around here (but a lot of
it depends on other guests here too) so he's a good host.

Bettina
John's Place is very close to the train
station and in a safe area. I never felt insecure during the whole
stay. The rooms are in a loft and have all the advantages of a loft:
the common room, that everybody can use, is big and there are several
very big patios which is great for summer. You are welcome to use the
big kitchen and because John is a great cook, you should accept his
weekly invitation for a meal. John also knows a lot about New York
and has a lot of material and information to share. He answered my
E-mails amazingly fast and helped us a lot to find the way from the
airport to his place. On the other side, you should be aware, that
the walls in the loft are very thin and you can hear everything.
During the night it sometimes became very cold in the rooms, because
the rooms are very high and the heat accumulated under the ceiling.
There is just one shared shower for all. Altogether it's a nice place
to stay. But if you want to stay in New York for several weeks, you
should first test this place for some days and then decide if this is
the right place for you. Best wishes, Bettina

Isabella
The place is really nice and clean and
super close to the subway. My room had a beautiful view and a comfy
bed. John can be a little intense, on the first night he was quite
annoyed with me for catching a cab as he said cab drivers were
'crooks' but after that he was very helpful and pleasant.
Even gave me some delicious roast he made and let me hang out past
check out time. All in all it was a good experience.

Stephanie
Really nice spacious room which I
shared with my cousin and we had ample space for all our stuff. The
location is pretty near to the station, about five minutes walk away.
John is a really helpful host and made sure we had a place to stay on
New Year's night when he found out that we didn't have anywhere to go
for that night. And honestly I don't think you'll find a better deal
for the price you pay, especially if you're travelling alone in NYC
:)

Yoojin
I couldn't agree more with Nacio's
exact review. Close distance from subway station and warm rooms are
good. However, if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, I don't
recommend this place. He smokes inside the house and rooms for guests
have a big glassless hole facing kitchen where he usually smoke.
Considering the cheap price of room, you may bear some shortcomings..
but I don't think it's comfortable to live for a long time in this
house.

Ling Sum
Great stay, great location! John is a
perfect host. The room is big enough. The neighborhood is safe!

Adam
Hey travelers! I stayed at john's space
in crown heights, Brooklyn for 10 days & would recommend it to
any of you out there on a budget who don't need many frills. It feels
like a cross between a hostel & a friend's place - there were
long term & short term guests here - everyone was respectful &
quiet. Excellent value for money & steps away from 24 hour
transit anywhere in NYC. The shower needs improvement but it's a
great place to hang yer hat. Would/will stay here again. Thanks John,
Merry holiday everyone!!! Adam

Cristina
I wouldn't choose Jonn's in matter of
the size of the room. But it was comfortable and the practical
facilities all right. Besides the room there is a ' shared space'
where it is possible to spend time/ do activities if the space of the
room isnt 'satisfying' which works fine. The bed was fine.
Transport to Manhattan is easy.

Carmen
If you are considering a hostel, this
would be a much better choice. The rooms are private; there is a
fridge, basic cooking facilities and John makes coffee every morning.
John gives fair warning about the neighborhood and I certainly
wouldn't walk around late at night, but it is very near the train,
the grocery store and laundromat are walking distance and the
neighborhood folk are generally friendly. It is definitely worth the
price.

Giorgio
Nice room, close to subway station and
to everything, few minutes to Manhattan. Mattresses, sheetes and
pillows where new when we arrived. John is funny and very helpful, he
gave us a lot of advices.

Nirmal
Good place overall. Pros: own room with
lock and key, on A express line, cheap Cons: My clothes smelled like
smoke, cats kept me up 3 nights, the fridge is in the bathroom for
some reason. the area is a little ghetto but overall safe since very
close to the main road. John and everyone in the house is friendly
and keep the place clean, though i bought my own cleaning wipes and
cleaned the toilets few times. I expected that since the place has 9
rooms and just 2 toilets and 1 bathroom. john was very gracious and
offered dinner on more than 2 occasions. for $29 a night it was a
bargain.

Isabell
It's a good place to stay for a few
weeks if you need an affordable homebase while you're exploring the
city The subway is just a short walk away, it takes about 20 minutes
to get to the west side of downtown Manhattan, which for New York is
very okay. John is a helpful host, often offering his guests food and
good advice or tips on where to go and how to get there. There is a
large common area with a kitchen that holds everything you need; the
bathrooms and shower are also shared by all. Rooms have loft beds,
drawers, chairs, tables, lamps - in short, everything you need. If
anything's missing, just ask; John is quite good at providing
anything extra (for example the extension cord and socket adapter I
needed to get comfortable in bed with my laptop). If you have any
more questions, just ask, I'll be happy to help you out.

Adam
I stayed at Johns place for just over a
week. The location of the place is great, only a short walk to the
train station and ~10 min to lower Manhattan. There was also on the
street parking easily available. John was a great host, provided me
information on how to get around and also recommended some places to
check out. Its great value for money, would stay here again if I'm in
NYC. Room was sun drenched and clean. He offered coffee every
morning. The complimentary BLT he made for me was delicious. If
anyone has any questions just send me an email.

Elena
Gracias John!

Rhona
Very helpful when we had a last minute
emergency, my daughter was in New York without internet and I was in
Scotland and I had to find her somewhere quickly. He replied
immediately and made up the room for her. She says it was great to
have a private room and room to open a case and hang up clothes. Easy
to come and go as you get your own key and it's close to everything
you need especially the subway. She says she felt safe in the house
and the neighbourhood, even as a solo female. Complimentary coffee
was also nice as was the BLT he made one day.

I love coloring snakes I guess. This Kerby Rosanes WIP has been so calming. I see a dark cave with light all around her. I originally planned for different colors. I want to make her hair red but I’m not sure now. Any ideas??
