[Music], hey there time again for kids art fun, today we're going to draw a cello the, cello is a stringed instrument used in, an orchestra it's carved out of wood and, has some beautiful shapes we'll start at, the top the top is where the strings are, tied pegs and so you have to put the, wood curlicue carved part and then we're, going to do the side of the cello so, watch carefully as you go down curved, outward and down that and a little in, part in the face and then back down, again and around now try to do the same, shape all the way back up the other side, matching the shape and then up into the, neck where the streams ride and where, the fingers push down on the strings, [Music], now we're going to draw a little bit of, depth showing that we're looking at the, cello from an angle so you have to show, how thick the cello is and we're looking, at it from this side where we can see, the side and then we're Sakina quite see, it anymore at the bottom here's the, beautiful little carved holes in the, deck now we're going to draw the bridge, and the part that holds the bottom of, the strings tightly and that little peg, we just did that's where it sits on the, ground, okay those little pegs are the things, that tighten up the strings we'll draw, them in there and there's four strings, so four pegs now here's the part that, holds the strings up off the deck of the, cello so they can vibrate properly, [Music], okay now we're going to finish the board, and color it in so the part underneath, the strings has some different shading, that part of the cello sits above the, wood box and is painted black and is, where the people push down on the, strings with their fingers to make music, I'm just going to color the board all, the way up careful to keep it in the, lines not to squiggle over the edges, [Music], you, okay now we're going to outline the, bottom of the board and put the little, holes where the strings are attached and, then carefully put the strings you, notice that the string goes to the, bridge in the middle there and it looks, like it changes direction just slightly, there because it's being lifted off the, board kind of hard with your free hand, to do that one but do your best and, there you go there's the four strings to, the cello so there's the main part of, the cello all outlined I guess we have, to color it in now and make the woods, look natural so we're using a really, nice yellowy, golden varnished wood color cellos are, very very beautiful, [Music], can you tell are very carefully all, around the shapes making sure to keep it, inside the frame of the cello and of, course you see the color underneath the, strings where they're coloring now we, left the bridge white is the bridge is, another piece of material, [Music], carefully coloring in the bottom color, [Music], okay now we do the other side again, being very careful to outline the parts, that aren't supposed to be yellow or, wood color it's good to use long even, strokes and just kind of like you're, mowing a lawn backwards or you color and, color all the whites gently touching the, other line makes it easier than just, scribbling it all you don't have any, gaps and it looks much more even just, long gentle strokes of the damage, continue to fill the color and be, careful to get that line right here on, the edge, [Music], okay now of course the side of the cello, will be little darker color oh and also, the woods top part of the cello but the, reason the side is a different color is, not only that we're looking at an angle, but also they often make cellos with a, darker wood on the side so we pick a, little darker brown and color it in game, you're carefully you can see how the, cello immediately looks like it has, depth it has thickness and the color, helps create that illusion, [Music], hold onto the paper don't let it slide, around, [Music], okay now we just have a few more little, pieces to color in and we're almost, there we go back to a gray color because, that part of the cello is actually, blackish gray like the upper part of the, board and a little bit on the foot now, that little bridge it raises the strings, and it gives it a little different, shading yes and we've got the knobs it, could be a nice bluish color and there, we have it the beautiful orchestral, cello thanks for watching and do come, back and don't forget to subscribe
Launch HN: GoLinks (YC W19) – Internal short links for teamsHello HN!
We’re Jorge, Kevin and Sean and we’re building GoLinks (https://www.golinks.io).
GoLinks is a platform that allows you to easily manage and share links by letting teams create a short link for any internal URL within a company. These links are easy to remember and share, so you don't have to bookmark or copy and paste them in emails.
Each day we use and share hundreds of links to get our jobs done, without considering how long it takes to access and share these resources. It’s one reason why many of us leave tabs open in our browser: we don’t want to spend the 5 to 10 steps to navigate back to that important page. With GoLinks, you’ll be able to deep-link directly into any application with just a simple keyword entered into your address bar. This allows links to be conversational. For example, one employee can create the keyword “go/review” to point to the annual review page in Workday. Later in a meeting, that employee can mention, “Remember to visit go/review to fill out your annual reviews!” Now anyone in that meeting can remember and access the link “go/review”, without digging through their email or Slack.
Golink systems are commonly used in many big tech companies such as Google, Linkedin, Twitter and Airbnb, built by internal tools engineers in those companies. These systems have become an integral part of the way tech companies share internal links.
When we started our careers in tech, we would often visit each other for lunch at these tech companies and we began to notice the same go/links everywhere. In the hallways, cafes, break rooms, posters. fliers and TVs, there would be these keywords prefixed with “go/” that allowed employees to quickly access information on their devices. The employee could enter a shortened URL like go/food into their mobile browser, or desktop, and could access the lunch menu for that day. An easy and simple concept, but an extremely powerful method for internal communication.
Although these systems are ubiquitous in large tech companies, we noticed there was nothing on the market that catered to startups, midsize, or non-tech companies. Companies usually don’t have the time or the resources to build sophisticated internal tools, so we set out to create GoLinks as a Service.
The challenge was building an internal tool for companies that may not have any internal infrastructure. For example, large tech companies have infrastructure so when you connect to the company Wifi or access the VPN, you can access the internal company network. This allows users to access the “go” domain on the network, which resolves the deep link redirection. For smaller and midsize companies, employees might be 100% remote or working in a coworking space, or maybe the company never got around to setting up an intranet. We had to build a product that did not rely on assuming internal infrastructure.
We were able to replicate the functionality of an internal network, and the simplicity of a short-link redirect system, by creating browser extensions for each of the popular browsers. The extension would proxy the “go” domain to our server and we authenticate and redirect the user to the correct location. Now coworkers can be on any network and any wifi, and as long as they authenticate in their current browser, we can find their company’s internal links.
We are startup-friendly—anyone under 10 users can get started completely free—but our main initial focus is on enterprise clients.
If you’ve ever used our GoLinks or any company's golink system, let us know how it’s changed your daily workflow. Thanks for reading. We appreciate your ideas and feedback!.
,Stripe updates pricing on cross-border fees between UK and EUI just got an email from Stripe:
---
Hello,
We’re writing to let you know that we’re making some changes to cross-border fees in Europe and the UK starting 1st July 2022.
Based on your Stripe transaction history, this change won’t impact [Company], and all other pricing will remain the same. You can review the most up to date fees for international transactions on our pricing page.
You can contact us, and find more details about this pricing update, managing or closing your account, or any other next steps, on our dedicated support page.
- The Stripe team
---
Of course they don't actually mention what the changes are, but looking at the pricing page [0], it seems like there is now an additional 1.1% (making it 2.5% in total) for EU companies taking UK payments and for UK companies taking EU payments.
I imagine this is related to Visa and Mastercard price increases post-Brexit? [1]

,Moo.com shuts down Flavors.me (acquired 2012)Hello,
With regret, we’ve made the decision to close down Flavors.me.
Due to a change in strategic direction, we've decided to move resources to focus on other digital projects and MOO's core heartland - helping businesses of all sizes look their best with beautiful printed products.
We fully appreciate how frustrating this is and hope you understand that we’ve deliberated over this decision for many months. Recent issues with Flavors have forced us to look very carefully at the service we provide and we no longer feel we can offer a robust service into the future.
We’ve already disabled new sign-ups and in the coming months we will begin to retire parts of the service. Due to this, we will be closing all free subscriber accounts on 31st March 2017. You are more than welcome to continue using Flavors until this date, but we’d encourage you to start looking for an alternative solution.
Below are a couple of suggested tools for building an online presence, from companies that we know and trust will provide a solid platform and a good customer experience.
Squarespace: We are excited to offer 10% off Squarespace for your new website. Try Squarespace for free, and when you’re ready to launch, get ten percent off your first purchase with the offer code FLAVORS10. This offer is effective through March 31, 2017.
About.me: A simple way to create your free, one-page website in just a few minutes. There are paid upgrade options available if you want to use your own domain.
As it isn’t going to be possible to automatically migrate your existing Flavors content, if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with us via support@flavors.me
Best regards,
Flavors Support.
,Ask HN: What is a user's recourse when Cloudflare is down?I guess post on HN and hope for upvotes.
Several websites behind CloudFlare are failing to load for me, notably for me, anaconda.org (104.17.92.24). Other sites have also been flaky.
Cloudflare's own support page has the error:

I've emailed support@cloudflare.com about this. I'm supposed to create an account, which is only possible at, Surprise!, https://dash.cloudflare.com/login:

I've had workaround using a VPN in the USA, but that's really slowing my work down and obviously this doesn't work for everyone..
,Ask HN: What tools do you use to switch between projects?Hello HN,
I was wondering if anyone has any tools / software they use to switch between projects? I constantly find myself going between a variety of programs and associated setup to get started working on any particular avenue. For example, I'll need to be in design mode and have illustrator, fireworks, a number of webpages, and client requests open... and from there I'll need to switch over to web dev which requires closing those and opening a few terminal screens, a text editor, associated web pages, etc...
After this cycle happens a bit, I start to go nuts. Does anyone have any scripts or processes they use to control this??
Thanks!.
,Show HN: Dock.ninja host GitHub projects for short duration for demo purposesHello All, this is my first submission to HackerNews. It took me a lot of convincing myself before posting this entry here.
http://dock.ninja is a proof-of-concept application, to host git projects without project page for a short duration.
The intention is to save time:
1. instead of cloning a repo locally and hosting it just to know the workings
2. create a gist page and maintaining it
One sample entry:
https://github.com/lukehaas/css-loaders.git
As i am learning python & django, i tried developing this application as POC. It would be really helpful to get your reviews and feedback on this application..
