hi everyone and welcome, i am going to do a flip through of this, book i just got in the mail, i seen another group was doing it so you, might have seen a lot of flips and pages, but it really caught my eye it was, something i really wanted to try, so i got my copy off amazon but it came, from thrift books, it is a little scratched and beat up, but it works for me this is the back, side, a little dirty but i'm hoping to take an, eraser to it and it'll be just fine, um it says 15.99 on it but i honestly, i'm, pretty sure i paid around seven dollars, this is an older book it is not, new so charles dickens a christmas carol, a coloring classic, double date books for young readers just, a little about the book, it opens up in the front, opens up in the back, and then it says kate where is a, designer an illustrator from wales, vladimir and i have no idea how to say, his last name, not even going to ruin it is an, illustrator and comic book artist, in serbia and charles dickens was an, english writer and social critic, the christmas carol is one of his most, famous works and is credited with, popularizing christmas traditions that, we still, follow so this is the older the very, first, version of a christmas carol it is not, like the new disney ones or anything, like that this, is the original this book came out in, 2016, is when it was copyrighted, so it starts off with just a little, thank you and who it's too, we start with this scene of town at, night which is really cool i like how, they did these lights this little bit of, smoke right there, fog you could add your own stars if you, wanted and a moon you can get really, creative with it, i was really interested in this book for, the, oldish sketchy vintage style book versus, a lot of the newer stuff, so i'm really excited to give it a try, and practice realism, i am not going to read this book to you, because obviously it was very long, but it does have this story that goes, through the whole book, so here is ebenezer scrooge snowing, outside a beautiful two-page spread i'm, not gonna lie i am a sucker for two, page spreads and that's probably what, won me over with this book, a beautiful wreath i'm really debating, on whether i want to add some sparkles, to these pine cones, here's some dessert pages super fun to, practice food, they are talking about why did you get, married and, you know these could be really simple, pages you could add to them if you, wanted, to make them detailed you know this part, could be really pretty, if you you know did him and then the, words, kind of in a matching background, lots of things you could do with this, book, i'm obviously late to the game as i'm, just getting it and it's already almost, december, and i have a lot of events going on um, once upon a color, facebook group is doing a whole lot of, christmas events for, a mega prize ultimate prize i believe, she called it, so i kind of have a little bit of a full, plate but i'm still gonna try to get, some of these colored, hoping maybe i can get maybe one done, for november finished, pages just so everybody can see a done, one, i know some of these pages like this one, kind of look like what the heck, but there are so many cool things you, can do, this these kind of pages they find, really fun because they give you, a chance to practice your effects like, you know doing the dripping down color, or, the spotty effect if you want to do, bokeh background anything like that so, those are really fun pages to practice, it on, i think i i was gonna start at the, beginning and try to work my way through, the book um i really like this page too, but as i'm getting it kind of late and, i'm kind of busy i think i'm just gonna, jump to a couple pages, that caught my eye and then hopefully, next year i will get some more done, i really like this page this is the, first page that caught my eye, belle here's a rose, be a really pretty red and gold page so, here is the first spirit, and here's ebenezer scrooge so like i, said you could add your stars add a, couple clouds across the moon if you, want, i am the ghost of christmas present, there he is there's a pig, that's fun merry christmas to us all my, dear, so nice family kitchen scene here dining, scene i mean not kitchen sorry, be fun to color old-fashioned i'd have, to do a little research, color of the walls and whatnot but, okay so in, memory memory i can't say that word i, can't ever say that word sorry, so christmas tree in the background, this page has caught my eye also um, i know it doesn't look exactly christmas, but, i really want to work with these swirls, and see if i can't make them look more, foggy and smoky versus just kind of, swirly i'm assuming it's supposed to be, like a foggy ghosty effect, so this has really caught my eye i, haven't decided if i want to do it with, like, eye shadow kind of smear the black and, then fill in with the gray, or how i want to do it yet because i, don't exactly want all these lines to, show through i just kind of want it to, be, but we will see i also want to start, with maybe an easier page just to try, pencil see what pencils are going to, work well with this paper, it is thick paper they are not, perforated edges, it's pretty smooth not a lot of tooth to, it, ebony's are scrooge so there's his, little grave how sad, or scrooge, and then here's the spirits i really, like this page too again if i get that, smokey effect down, it'd be really neat to kind of do smoke, i might assign them, colors she'll be more of like a ready, pink maybe a bluey green and then a, darker, one for him but we'll see i haven't, actually seen the old old scrooge so i, might have to google some images, and see i would like to make this book, my own and i'm not going for, exactly the color scheme that they used, but i kind of want to keep it, somewhat close, this is a fun one too i love these, buildings, orange and a turkey practice your turkey, colors, christmas ornaments and stockings, nice little families they're scrooge, a very victorian christmas so a, christmas carol is widely credited with, the popularization of victoria fest, victorian festive traditions many of, which are recognizable in the way the, season is celebrated, so it just kind of tells you how these, tie into the story the christmas cards, the kissing the decorations mistletoe, um their gifts gifts were modest, including candy fruit nuts, so it's just kind of fun to see how, things have changed and what they do, and i don't know about you guys but um, my mom still gives everybody nuts for, christmas, so god bless everyone so this might be a, fun starter page and then it's got the, same, wallpaper order, so that is charles dickens at christmas, carol i thank you for joining i hope you, love it, um i plan on trying to get a page done, for the november video like i said i, have a couple more books i might do flip, throughs for you, and then i think i'm going to do, a december wish list of things i would, like to get done just to help me stay on, track, so i hope to see you in the next video, and thanks for watching
