[Music], hello everyone welcome to my august, completed pages, i wanted to go ahead and show you what i, got done this month, and i figured i would start out with a, kirby rosanna's page from worlds within, worlds, i did this page here, the kraken i used metallic watercolor, for the background which i do have on my, channel i'll tag the link if you'd like, to go see that, and that was with some etsy handmade, watercolors, and then used prismacolor pencils, polychromos pencils and then a layer of, mod podge as well, see if i can get some of the, shiny effect here, so yeah i enjoyed doing this one it did, take quite a long time, but i like how it turned out and, i was super excited to use the metallic, watercolors i had gotten a while ago, and not had a chance to use so, was super excited to get those on this, page and definitely, loving how it turned out i did a purple, layer up to a light green, so so yeah that's this page from, worlds within worlds kirby rosannas, and then moving on to rita berman, from this book, i did this page, and here i used metallic watercolor as, well, and polychromos, nuvo drops that's in the wings, and the holographic glitter is a nail, polish, so, let me see if i can get this a little, closer so you can see, there's so much shine on there it's kind, of hard to get it in detail, but yeah i had fun doing this page, something, different, using the nail polish it it feels, slightly tacky still so i probably won't, use that again, but it was fun nonetheless to try it out, i'm always looking for new, products to use to make these pages look, nice, i can get this on the right way because, i'm not wanting that to go on to the, next page because i'm looking forward to, coloring that one too, but yeah, rita berman, the next one i have is from mandolin, maria trolley, and, i did the dragon, on this one and i used prismas, polychromos, some yellow sparkles yellow acrylic, here and i think it turned out nice i, like the black background it was that, way to begin with, and there's some, sparkles, in here, i think it's such a cute little dragon, illustration wise and hope that i did, the coloring justice, but i sure did love doing this page and, love this whole book, lots of cute illustrations in this book, so i'm happy that i purchased this one, to add to the collection, the next one is in hannah carlson's, forest tales of the forest kingdom, and for this one i did pan pastel, on both pages because i'll probably do, something similar on this one, luminance pencils art x pencils and some, mod podge, for the glitter effect, let's see if i can show you that a, little better this way, turning the light, so yeah i wanted to go for a blue girl, i just spoke to me that day that i was, getting ready to do this page, and so i decided to give her blue skin, and enjoy how it turned out there's a, few things that i might have uh done a, little different as far as the hair, but, otherwise i really enjoy doing this page, and look forward to doing this one, here, tales from the forest kingdom, and then, i have, lost ocean by joanna basford, and i did this page, and i have the intent to do to mimic, what i did on this page over here to, make it the double page spread, but at the time i only had, the ability to do one, so i used my etsy homemade metallic, watercolors luminance pencils and color, it gel, glitter pens, and i'll just get this up a little, higher for you, those metallic watercolors really make, these pages pop, so that's lost ocean, and i believe this one wound up being a, an instagram tag, i have to double check but i'm pretty, sure, it was i'm going to leave that in there, to make sure that i did tag it, and moving on to rita berman's europa, and here i wound up, doing this for an instagram coloring tag, using, brute former square pencils pen pastels, the fixative spray, glitter powder mod podge and sparkle, glitter glue, so yeah it has some pretty little, sparkles there, i think that turned out real cute, really into the blues this month, they're apparently on several of my, pages but uh and yeah it would be one of, my favorite colors so that would make, sense but i like how all the the glitter, turned out on the page, yeah, so there's that one and that one again, was an instagram, tag, next up is whimsical dreams coloring, book by julius berry and this one i did, with no background, and another blue faced so obviously i, enjoyed doing the other blue face so i, wanted to, do another one and give her some gray, hair, and all this was, oh huhu markers, some prismas and polychromos, i usually always will do a background, but i decided this time not to, more because i couldn't decide on what i, wanted to do with the background so i, can always go back and do one, but always when the illustration cuts, off down at the bottom, i'm always weary of what kind of, background i want to do because she'll, look floating, in the background as she does on the, white paper, so, anyway so that is her, from this book, very cute illustrations, and then the next one, is worlds of wonder, by joanna bashford, and i believe this is also a, an instagram tag, and the page is also, perforated and wanting to come out, this one is with inktense pan pastel, polychromos and glitter mod podge now, i do like how the page turned out but if, i were to do it over i would have, brought my darker color up kind of on, the sides and not had it straight across, and um although i did want a darker, background i kind of questioned it after, i did it, um but overall i think it's it's cute, and it has lots of little glitters, and things, so yeah so that's that page and i look, forward to doing this one i'll, probably do something less intense on, this page, color wise, but yeah, that is from worlds of wonder, this next one from suck whims the 2017, fantasy, characters, i did this page with alcohol marker and, artix, uh pencils now, the, i like generally how it turned out but, the, artix markers as far as skin tone i was, trying just to use those i was not, really happy with it and, i also did a little watercolor so skin, tone wise i'm not thrilled with it, but, the rest is cutesy i wanted a fun bright, page and, i sure did get a bright page, and she's got some glitter going on, there, so yeah, i, won't turn to the arctic's pencils for, skin tone but i do love them, otherwise i've been enjoying those, pencils as they're a new set, to me, next up i have the adventures of cutie, cactus by coco wyo, and this was a hoo-hoo markers, and i think this one turned out real, cute, i love the fact that he's holding a, paintbrush, i did this one while my children my, grandchildren were, coming over to visit and we decided we, were going to color together so, that's what i decided to do nothing, complicated while they were here so we, could enjoy our time, but yeah mr cactus with a paintbrush, getting this paint on, and the cat's cute hair down at the, bottom, so there's that, cutie cactus, and then i also did a, the travel mosaic color by number, with oh as well while i had them out, and did this page, and the oh markers are great for, these kinds of things um, they give good coverage um and it turns, out nice let's see if i can bring that, up a little closer, but yeah these are fun to do it's nice, you know something in between, um as i described in my haul it's nice, nice to do those, kinds of pages also i did one in the, circularism, papillio by eclipse, and this one was tombow dual, brush tip markers, the water-based ones, and, here's a better look at that one, i, don't think i would have chosen the, colors they did but, i just went by their, um, guide here and that's what we got on, that one so, again super fun if you're trying to do, something in less than an hour um these, are great books, um, that will fit that time frame, next up is the spooky girl by coco io, and here i did tombow, dual tip brush markers as well, i did black little pencils, nuvo glazier paste around the light, and the uli glitter glues, on the ghost creatures and i'll just, bring that in a little bit so you can, see the shine, this was a fun one to do too, nothing crazy detailed but nice to be, able to to do a page and enjoy doing it, and of course the autumn theme was what, i was looking for my last haul and, that's what i got, next up is uh, circulism by uh eclipse and this is the, fish version, this one was a huhu acrylic markers and, i did a sparkle mod podge, on the top so, it's glittery, and that was just for fun, experimentation, here is one that i also completed, and that is the artix pencils, i think that one turned out nice that's, the first thing that i did with the, artix, art x artix not sure how to pronounce it, but that was the first one i did and, my granddaughter while she was over, asked if she could, do one and so she did this with the art, x, and some polychromos to fill in some, colors she didn't have, so that's her little page, so so yeah this is a fun little fun, little book, there was another one with arctic arctic, pencils and, again like i feel like there's too many, orange like they have, dark orange, dark red red and with the arctics or art, x pencils um they just kind of wound up, blending a little bit i think, love the background colors, but fun nonetheless, and not taxing on the eyeballs to, do this one is from tonya bogeymastalova, nice little dragons, and this one here, okay so i tried out, a new dauber with the stress ink, by tim holtz, and, i was dropping a little water to kind of, do like you know um, an effect on the background and it wound, up crinkling the paper a little bit so i, went back and did some darker colors and, this is with a bubble stencil, and then of course the cute little, dragon um i did, with pablo pencils, from karen dash and um, it has some mod podge glitter on it as, well which i'll show you up close, so yeah i think it turned out real cute, and, i love pablo pencils so anytime i'm, using those, it's a fun, coloring time so yeah that's this, and nice little dragons, next is from this cactus and succulent, coloring book, by questopia color questopia, and for these i did the oh, alcohol markers, i do like how this one turned out i like, their color combination, super fun to do, i would say um, the ohuho markers as i've mentioned the, dual, brush tip markers are good but i do find, that they want to, peel the paper a little bit, so the oh markers don't do that and as, you see i keep taking out, these clear pages to going back, so that i don't have bleed through on, this page i do want this but not this, page, so yeah so that was that one in the, cactus book, and then one that i am working on that i, started in august but i could will not, get to finish, it will be for september is this the, night voyage, by daria song, and that will be this page, so that's what i have so far, i have lots to do lots more detail but i, was laying on some color first, and seeing how, things were coming about and uh, obviously there's a lot more to do, so that will be, a whip that i go into september with, i'm glad that was just, something there not permanently, so yes these are really cute pages and, this book is wonderful i did, show it in my last haul, if you would like to go through that and, that is it for, this month, i wanted to ask you all if you wanted me, to, do an opening and review of the tombow, trajecton 90 pencil set that i have here, um, i figured that we could do a coloring, page uh, with using these pencils the 90 pencil, set, and see how we like them i do have quite, a few of the the pencils now that i feel, like i could judge whether or not this, is a great set to go for, i do believe that pamela's passion for, pencils had recently reviewed these so, it may not be necessary for me to do, them but if you'd like to see that, leave me a comment down below and i will, be happy Backstory: August of last year, after a year and a half from my last startup closing down, I decided it was time to get back to work. The time had been spent with my family, and watching my son in his first year. It was a good time. But getting back to work would mean getting a job, and at the time, I was more concerned about a solid pay check. Obviously, in this economic climate, it was a bit scary, but I had ample experience and was confident I could land a job. I went to work. I had to create a resume, and then get it up online. I bought the domain name, and put it up there. Spent quite a bit of time getting it right. In the end, this is what allow my current employer to find me. A search on Google came up with my resume as the first result, provided the proper contact information, and made it easy for them to get in contact with me. After interviews and negotiations, I got the job.

My brother is in a situation like this as well. He's part of the inspiration for this project. The idea is that I had to spend time putting together the website, the design, even as simple as it was, and making sure it got up on the search engines. None of this was difficult for me to do, but for someone like my brother, he doesn't even realize it's something he should do. A resume on Monster.com isn't geared toward the masses and SEO. It's geared toward Monster.com searching.

Since leaving school, I've gotten all my jobs because someone knew me somehow and recommended me in some capacity. Of those, 3 of them also included what I did online. One, in fact, included me walking into the interview with a stack an inch thick of what the interviewer had found online about me.

The reality is, most people get jobs through word of mouth. Someone knows someone, or their is some common ground. At least the good jobs.

So, the idea for the site is bred from some simple ideas:

1. It's good to have a website dedicated to your resume. To promoting yourself. You want a search result with your name to return your resume, your own personal advertisement, rather than some random Facebook page.

2. You want to always be promoting yourself. The job market has changed, and you want to be out there. If someone is interested in searching for you, you don't want them to have to go searching for more information. You want that information to be easily found.

3. Most people don't have the time or energy to invest in creating an highly optimized online resume. Couple this with the cost of having to buy hosting, and the price can get a bit high just for a place to put an online resume.

4. People need jobs. In the current market, job hunting has become even more important. People are becoming aware that it's important to always be prepared to find a job. If you aren't actively pursuing a better job, you're hurting yourself.

5. For far too long, job hunting has been employer-centric. Advertise a job, receive resumes. People are coming to accept that advertising their own skills is becoming important. Social networks are, in a way, teaching people to put their lives online in an orderly fashion; a personal resume.

6. Employers focus too much on accepting resumes instead of getting what they want. It's difficult for employers to find people with the skills they need on their own, without going through an agency. Even then, it's still focused on hiring unemployed people or people that are actively looking.

These are pretty broad ideas, but rather simple. They describe the problems, the issues at hand. The service seeks to solve these problems in various ways, to service not only the potential employees, but the employers as well.

1. Simple to use. The site is focused on providing an efficient, professional resume. You fill in the blanks. The goal is to be fast, painless, and get up something good, quick.

2. The service is meant to be long term. Year-long terms here. The idea goal is for the resume to be a 'living resume.' It updates itself, or you update it, with the current status. It's smart. A year goes by, and 5 years of experience becomes 6, for example. You are encouraged to update.

3. Everything is optimized. The page itself is optimized for search engines. The design will be optimized for easy viewing. Easy printing. Easy sharing. SEO will not just be on the resume itself, but also for searching. Need a Rails Developers in Atlanta Georgia? We'll make that easy to find.

4. You're always promoting yourself. The goal is to make a search for your name appear at or near the top of the search result. This is, after all, your page with your professional information.

5. No ads. I mean, the entire site is basically an advertisement, each page for a particular person, if you want to get technical, but no flashing banner ads, text ads, etc.

6. Low cost. Pay a yearly fee, something reasonable.

There is a lot of potential for expanding the services offered. Being able to put up a portfolio would be important. Pictures of yourself if you wanted. Customization through CSS.

Standards would be important. Exporting contact information as well as the resume itself. All the data would be used and indexed on. Searching and pages could be made on anything.

Anyway's, that's a brief overview of the idea. There are tons of other specifics, and other ideas, as well as ways to go about marketing it and getting users. My questions are simple:

1. Would you pay for a service like this?
2. Do you know others that would pay for a service like this?
3. Have you ever built an online resume/portfolio?
4. Would this service benefit professionals in industries outside web developers?
5. Would businesses outside web-based/focused companies use such a means to find employers?

I'm sure there are other questions, I'll have, and frankly, you don't need to answer these questions point by point. Just wanted to give you an idea of some of the initial questions I might have. Any input at all is encouraged.

As a final point, I've searched online for a service like this, and while I've found a few that promote the same basic thing, I haven't found anything that really capture what I would want in a service. In tech-terms: a Web 2.0 Online Resume site.

I've put a lot of thought into this, played around with some initial designs, hacked up some code, but at this stage, I'm more eager to gain some initial feedback before investing heavily into this idea. So, have at it.
