hi this is crystal from candidly crystal, crochet today I will be showing you how, to make these beautiful puzzle piece, appliques you know you're only gonna, need three things to get started with, this you're gonna need a video size ten, yarn and I am using the Fiesta color you, can use whatever color you like 110, millimeter crochet hook and you can use, a bigger size I'm just choosing to use, this small because I like my like my, equity is a little small and the size of, this applique is about 2 and 1/4 inch, width and about 2 inches length, alright and you're gonna need some, scissors for to fasten off as we do this, project alright so let's get started, wait hold on guys I just want to let you, know in the middle of this video there, is a little audio mishap but you can, still hear me alright let's go, what I felt to mention is my applique is, stiff if you can notice it's really, really stiff I did use fabric stiffener, fabric stiffener because I'm making, these as earrings so I drenched my hair, my appliques and this let us say, overnight and I may give it another coat, you know this is still a little a little, soft I just needed a little bit more, stiffer so that's optional for you but, just want to let you know about that ok, so the first of our molds we have to, make the Slipknot, all right and we're going to chain 21 1, so 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17, 18 19 20 and 21, all right so we're going to start on row, number one and we're going to make one, single crochet and the second chain from, the hook so not this shame but the, second chain right here we're gonna make, one single crochet and we're going to, continue to make morrison crochet and, the rest of the chain that we've just, made so I just continue to make that one, same crochet in each chain across, if you need to count to yourself you, need 20 single crochets at the end of, this row, okay round one is completed at me once, in crochet in each stitch across so now, we're going to go on to Row 2 so we're, going to make one chain so you're going, to chain 1 and we're going to turn to, start with righto so rasool is going to, be the same thing as round 1 Row 1 so, we're going to just make one simple, showing a very first stitch and make, once and crochet and each stitch across, so let's continue to make that one, single crochet each stitch across and, I'm going to meet you at the end of this, row number two okay I'm coming up on the, end of Row two so I'm at 19 and here's, my last stitch 20 so we're going to, chain 1 that's her, so from fret row 3 to row 6 we're going, to continue to do the same thing and, that's one single crochet in each stitch, across all right so this is wrong Row 3, so let's just continue to do that one, single crochet across and then Row 4 or, 5 and row 6 we're going to do the same, thing so change to chain excuse me, continue to sing crochet alright I'll, meet you at the end of Row 3, okay I'm coming up on the end of Row, three this is 19 and 20 here so we're, going to chain 1 turn our work and now, we're gonna begin with Row 4 same thing, one single sharing the very first stitch, once in crochet across I'll meet you at, the end of Row 4, okay this is the end of row four right, here so we're going to chain one turn, I also going guys hopefully this is not, too tedious for you so now we are row, five same thing first once and, crocheting a very first stitch one, synchro Shea in each stitch across and, while you're sewing your work just, always double check to make sure your, your work is aligning correctly should, look straight you see how you have this, is pretty much straight this way they're, pretty much straight that way make sure, to just count all your stitches should, be twenty stitches sometimes at the end, of your row looks a little tricky you're, not sure if you should make a stitch, there so if you are beginning to just, make sure you count all of your stitches, okay, so I'm pretty much at the end of this, row so I'll just keep the camera go, okay we're coming up on the end of row, five this is my pain in hand 20 right, here all right so let's chain 1 its, Hearn so now we on row 6 same thing I'm, gonna make one synchro sharing a very, first stitch and once in crochet across, so this is the second one that was, number two, now count for a row 6 so this is 3/4, oops, five six seven eight nine 10 11 12 13 14, [Music], 15 16 17 18 19 20, [Music], all right so now we're gonna begin row 7, we're gonna make one chain and turn so, row 7 we're going to make one single, crochet in the next 15 stitches so I'm, gonna stop at 15 so let's do it, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, 10 11 12 13 14 and 15, okay so we're going to chain one and, we're going to turn so now we on row, eight which we're going to make one, single crochet decrease in this first, stitch so let's make that single crochet, decrease and that first stitch and we're, going to make one single crochet and the, next 13 stitches 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11, 12 and 13, okay so now we're going to chain 1 and 1, the time when I roll 9 so we're going to, just make once and crochet each stitch, across all right so it should be a total, of 14 so 1 2 3 4, five six seven eight nine ten eleven, twelve thirteen and fourteen okay this, is how your work should be looking so, far so now we're going word a little, time we are on row 10 so we're going to, make one stand crochet across total 14, so three four five six seven eight eight, nine come on now ten eleven twelve, thirteen and fourteen, okay we got chain one and turn now we're, on row 11 okay we're going to do the, same thing as real time so we made our, chain let's make a single crochet in the, very first stitch one two three four, [Music], five six seven eight nine ten, 11 12 13 and 14 we're not done so now, what we're going to do is make six, chains one two three four five and six, okay so we're going to turn our work and, begin with the role 12 we're going to, make a single crochet in a second chain, from the hook which that is one and, we're going to continue to make the same, crochet down the chain which was total, four five five so that's two three, four and five come on five okay so, you're gonna continue to make our one, single crochets in each stitch across, which is going to be the previous row so, this is going to be number six seventh, stitch eight nine ten 11 12 13 14 15 16, 17 18 and 19 okay okay so you got it so, far so good it should be looking like, this so far it looks a little funky but, trust the process we're halfway through, this we're going to chain one and turn, oh we are now on row 13 push we're gonna, make one single crochet in each stitch, across total the 19 that's 1 2 3 4 5 and, so on I'll meet you at the end of row 15, here we are so let's just continue to go, to Washington crochets I'm almost at the, end okay we're at the ends where the, chain that we made this exchange that we, made the probably gives a little hard, time if you're a beginner but just, continue to make the, and crochets and count all your stitches, which will equal 19 at the ends of row, 13, you, I'm struggling with the last stitch but, I got to get it done, all right there we go last stitch made, okay so that was the end of all 13 lets, chain 1 and of course turn our work, we're gonna just continue with one, single crochet in the very first stitch, and we're going to make one single, crochet across totaling 19 yeah, really so I'm just gonna sing crochet, across and I'm going to meet you at the, end of row 14, you, I'm coming up on the end of row 14 just, making single crochets, you're gonna chain a wine so while you, add it just check your your works and, make sure everything is aligned, correctly you see my line my lines are, very straight that's how your work, should be looking just double-check, everything just make sure everything is, straight and even all right, so your work is going to be really soft, because this is thread so just remember, if you need your work should be, stiffened use fabric stiffener and would, definitely get the curls out of your, work all right so let's continue with, the role 15 we're working on the first, stitch and we're going to go all the way, across row 15, you, I'll meet you at the end of row 15, you, okay this is the end of row 15 hmm, that's my 19 stitch right there so we're, gonna just chain one in turn, okay what's the rule 16 okay we're going, to continue to do what we did a role fix, it, with roll 16 we're going to actually do, one single crochet each stitch for row, 16 and row 17 array so let's just, continue to make a single crochets, across this row 16, I'll meet you at the ends of this row, okay we're coming up on the ends of row, 16 then we get my last single crochet in, there all right so I'm going to chain 1, now we own some row 17 and I'm so, excited make sure so you work and make a, single crochet in the very first stitch, and one single crochet in each stitch, across, okay three four five six seven eight, nine 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 and 19, this is the end of row 17 all right, we're done with the major piece of the, puzzle, so we're gonna chain one and fasten our, work off and just pull your thread, through so you could cite in your work, okay I'm looking at my ends I usually, just single crocheted them in but I did, leave them out by accident so once we do, our border we can just do the single, crochet around the thread so with the, hide our work all right it's so this is, how you piece should be looking right, now, now we need to do the top of the little, puzzle piece nothing that will be on top, of our work, so let's make a slipknot all right come, on guys let's do this I'm going to make, a slipknot to begin our work, so take your piece and notice how my, piece is sitting it's like a backward, see we want to count eight stitches from, the corner of our work from the right to, left all right so let's just count eight, one two three four five six seven eight, and with that eight stitch we're going, to up hold on lost count one two three, four five six seven eight we're going to, slide our hook through the a stitch pull, through our step not that we've made, okay and we're going to make one chain, and now we're going to make one single, crochet in the next four stitches only, make sure you take the leftover thread, that you're back on the slip knot with, you while you make your single crochets, so that's one two, three and four, now that was a roll one without, chain one and turn I work, so we're going to make two single, crochets in the first stitch so we're, increasing this row - all right so, that's two single crochets in the first, stitch and now we're going to make one, single crochet in the next two stitches, so that's one single crochet and then, one single crochet in the next stitch, okay now we're going to make two single, crochets and the last stitch so we are, creasing round so Row 2, you, and so we're going to chain one and turn, you, now we're going to make one single, crochet in each stitch across for Row, three it's your total six so that's two, three four five okay and six, so now we're going to chain one and turn, [Music], so now for Row 4 we're going so single, crochet decrease in the very first this, like a stitch alright so make a single, crochet decrease and now we're going to, make one single crochet in the next two, stitches so that's almost any crochet in, the first stitch one single crochet in, the second now we're going to make best, single crochet in the last single, crochet decrease in the last two, stitches, I decided to just do an increase then a, decrease on the next row because I just, wanted that little puzzle piece fill or, look you know how it's like picking the, Senate then it goes back narrow on the, top so let's just chain one and we're, gonna fasten off right here, now just pull you at the right through, and tighten, oh okay this is how the puzzle, piece should be looking right about now, I had the strings all out but we are, going to make sure we weave those, strings and while we sing crochet for, the border, okay now so our final step guys let's, make a slipknot, and we're going to begin making our, border on the corner of our puzzle piece, make sure your puzzle piece is the same, side of mine it doesn't have to be but, if you will following for the first time, it's nice to just sort the same way all, right so let's just slide our Slipknot, through the corner, I still chained one, so now we're just going to make one, single crochet across until we get to, this bottom piece of the puzzle piece, that's got the knob on it, just me so let's just make one single, crochet across make sure you take your, extra thread with you so we can just, eliminate cutting at the end so let's, make up single crochets I'm gonna get to, the bottom part of the knob I'm going to, show you what to do, you, it says so let's keep going until we get, to that bottom piece so for the bottom, piece was the starting of the puzzle, piece nub we're going to just make one, slip stitch that just defines the puzzle, piece better for me so let's just make, one slip stitch and we're going to make, one single crochet going up the nub, I just want to apologize for the audio, on mishaps you may hear this is my first, time doing a video and my bluetooth was, on and it kept echoing so sorry guys, now when you're at the corner of this, knob on the top we're going to make, three single crochets so we're gonna, make three single crochets right at the, top of this puzzle knob and make three, single crochets in these corners right, here just to give a nice round filling, to the puzzle piece also the two sides, on the other side corners that when you, make three distinct crochets so let's, begin with making our first three simple, shades in this shape so let's make three, single shades on this corner okay so, that's one two and three and we're going, to make the same crochet across must, infiltrate each and so we get to the, next corner which will be three single, crochets so that's my guy most important, each natholi single crochets here, now one single crochet going down and so, we hit the ends of the puzzle piece knob, which will be a slip stitch so that's, our last single crochet now let's make a, simple show right here at the bottom not, a single show slip stitch I'm sorry my, slip stitch right there, as you can see I'm still making my, single crochets with the thread that's, loose so let's just continue to do that, as you see one of them is gone because I, just assumed crocheting across what the, thread alright, let's continue making us single crochets, across one single crochet across and say, you hit a corner which will be three, single crochets, you, although never come up to the corner so, you know let's make those three single, crochets, and 500 through it one thing for sure, going down the puzzle piece, you, then where the corner can't so let's, make those three single crochets, so now we're going across with our, Watson crochets but when we get to the, indents of this puzzle piece right here, and right here we're going to make a, slip stitch alright so let's start with, almost single crochet in each stitch, you, so now we're at the corner and we're, going to make one slip stitch right, there and now we're going to continue, with our single crochets and then when, we get to the other ends at corner we're, going to make another slip stitch, we're at the next indent corner huh, whatever you two call it let's make a, slip stitch so we just follow them all, making that border okay let's continue, with that single crochets all the way, down to the next corner sorry I know the, thread is all in the way but we will cut, that those the threads, since I already single crocheted them, into the puzzle piece, we're at the corner again so you are, ready now let's make those three single, crochets, you, you already know to make those single, crochets now to the next corner, you, oh let's me three here three single, crochets at this corner, now we're at the bottom of the puzzle, piece, okay let's continue to make the scene, crochets I'm making my single crochets, with the thread that was hanging so, lemon-aid me we've been through, you, I'm so happy I made this puzzle piece, especially in April is Autism Awareness, I have someone that I will be making a, pair of earrings for for this special, month the colors go great with autism, awareness all right so we at the corner, let's make our three single crochets, here, you, we're at our last side of sync crochets, this border definitely is needed during, this project so let's just continue, making our one single crochets across, this last side, you, we are almost done I'm so excited but we, do have one more step after this which, is very simple it's just to make the, puzzle piece complete, so right here since we starting once one, chain I'm just going to add and two, single crochets at this corner and then, I'm just gonna slip stitch and so the, next chain up the chain that we did, previously and I'm going to chain one, fasten off pull a thread throw tighten, it, you see these extra strings they new, everywhere I added them and while I was, single crocheting so I could just cut, off the excess, this is my last dream that I need to, weave in since I just finished our, project so you just take some stitches, and weave your hook through the stitches, just so you can grab the thread and pull, it through the stitches to hide it, pulling my thread through, I need to leave a little bit more but, let me just save that for last, so let's just cut off the excess thread, those come on says doesn't work with me, I'm not using these scissors again they, sold all but cute uppity I love them, time to give it up, you, let me just fix this well have the, chance so you see I just take a stitch, and pull out the thread throw, you, of course I'm gonna snip it, all right so this is the puzzle piece, I like to stretch it up a little bit, make sure I get the shape that I like, so now we're looking at these two outer, puzzle pieces and you see how they're, like open I like them closed if you, notice on the puzzle piece that I, previously made I just put something, right there just to make it close it's, not very visible so it's cold so I just, added some thread here and tied a knot, so let me show you how to do that let's, just start off by making a slip knot, or did you have a tapestry needle this, will work as well but I don't have one, right here with me so you just needed, thread through those little outer pieces, right there, you get exactly what I have here just to, close it up, just take my, hook, Chrissa pull through a stitch you don't, have to be too precise and which stitch, it is as long as it's like it levels up, to the other side, take the thread and pull through, then I just make one chain, it just fasten off and pour through the, thread and then I just tighten it and, make like two knots just to secure it, you, like that you see it's kind of close and, now I'm just going to weave and this, thread that we have that's out, just take your hook and go in and out of, stitches its wants to be a little, difficult but just take your time and, just try to weave it in and out, [Applause], you, now so now I just take the thread one of, the threads and I'm just going to pull, it through the stitches that I was, leaving in and now, and now I'm going to do the same thing, that I've done on the other side, you, like that alright and then I just cut, cut and cut alright but once I start you, won't either see this you know once it's, nice and hard you won't even see it so, here is the puzzle piece guys I hope, your puzzle piece is nice again like I, said it's gonna curl up like this but, once you put this up I'll fabric any, fabric stiffener trust and believe it's, gonna be straight just like this just, like this okay so I really drench my, puzzle piece i drench it with Platt, fabric stiffener then I just let it sit, overnight and when you wake up you'll, look at it like oh wow look I’ve been asked for 3+ years to make a 3D Maryland flag putter. I always said it was impossible… turns out i was wrong. I found some symmetry in the design and figured out that I could 3d print a mold for the puzzle piece, then put that in a square mold for the other color. Then just add glue. Easy!
