hello everyone thank you for joining me, today to hear another exciting story, from God's Word over the last several, weeks we have been learning some very, exciting stories out of God's Word but, we've also been learning Bible verses, and I hope each of you have tried to, learn these Bible verses and memorize, them it's important to learn these, verses so that we can know God's Word so, that we can obey it and that's one of, the reasons that we try to learn about, verses today our Bible story is about, Daniel and it's one of the most exciting, stories in the Bible it's about Daniel, and his faith and you probably have, already heard this story but we're going, to learn it again today, Daniel could courageously trust God, because he knew God and he knew God's, Word and he knew how to obey it and, that's one of the reasons it's important, for us to know God's Word and to, memorize our table verses so let's go, ahead and look at our lesson last week, we talked about something that Daniel, did do you remember our story about the, writing on the wall and about King, Belshazzar he was a prideful King and, wicked and Daniel told him what the, writing on the wall meant God helped, Daniel to be able to know this and, Daniel told him that his kingdom was, going to end and another King would come, in and rule and that's where we ended, our story last week and today we're, going to start our story where we left, off today we're going to talk about a, new king his name was Darius he's, pictured right here but he's the king, that came in and he defeated King, Belshazzar he was the new King and he, decided to choose 120 men to help him, rule over his kingdom he had a large, Kingdom he had conquered a lot of land, and he needed help ruling so he picked, 120 Prince's to help him rule his land, and over these 120 Prince's, picked three presidents to rule over, them and help them to do their job and, Daniel was one of the three presidents, that he picked that was Jan Daniel's job, King Darius noticed that Daniel was, always good as he jumped at his job he, did better than the other three other, presidents and he was always loyal and, faithful and he was honest and a hard, worker and King Darius liked this a lot, he liked this very much do you remember, Daniel do you remember our story about, Daniel he wasn't from Babylon do you, remember where he was from and our story, a couple of weeks ago we learned that, Daniel was from the kingdom of Judah and, when he was just a teenager King, Nebuchadnezzar came and defeated the, land and he took Daniel and his three, friends captive back to the city of, Babylon and there he learned about the, culture and their history and their, languages and he served under King, Nebuchadnezzar and then he served under, wicked King Belshazzar and now he was, serving under King Darius so this, happened a long time ago Daniel was no, longer a teenager many years had passed, in fact now he was older because he was, probably as old as a grandfather he was, older when this story happened but, Daniel had learned through his life that, he could trust God he had learned to, obey God and so now when he was older he, could also serve God and be honest he, never stopped trusting God all of those, years he never stopped trusting God he, had never bowed down to false idols or, started worshiping them he remembered to, obey God and he loved God and he served, him let's look at our Bible at day, chapter six and verse three the Bible, says that then this Daniel was preferred, above the presidents and princes because, an excellent spirit was in him and the, King thought to set him over the whole, realm did you hear that Daniel the king, noticed that Daniel was an honest man, and he decided he would have put him in, charge of the entire kingdom and he, would report to King Darius this was an, important job he was only second to the, king this is a good honor for Daniel he, did a good job but not everyone was, happy with this they weren't happy that, the King decided to put Daniel in charge, the other two presidents were very, jealous they wanted to be the second in, command not Daniel they thought they, were better at it they thought they, deserved the honor for themselves they, were angry and jealous and so they met, together to plot against Daniel they, said if we watch Daniel closely perhaps, we will discover something bad that he, does something bad about him surely and, we'll slip up and do something wrong, dishonest or maybe illegal we can't and, then we can tell the King and get him in, trouble that's what they wanted to do so, they spied on Daniel they watched him, and they spied on him to find something, that he could do that he had done wrong, so day after day they watched him and, they waited but they saw that Daniel was, always honest and always truthful and, the more they watched the more they saw, how trustworthy he was it was, infuriating infuriating this made them, so mad that they could not find, something wrong with Daniel this isn't, working at all they complained so they, met together with some of the, princess they said we can't catch the, Daniel doing anything wrong what are we, going to do we just can't let Daniel, take this position of Honor we want it, so the presidents and the princes came, up with a new plan, let's read Daniel chapter 6 and verse 5, it says then these men said we shall not, find any occasion against Daniel except, we find it against him concerning the, law of his God the only thing the, presidents and princess could come up, with was to try to make Daniels worship, of the one true God a problem for him, they said this is the only way we're, gonna catch him and trip him up I know, said one of the men let's make a law, that forces Daniel to disobey his God, and you know Daniel is not gonna choose, to disobey his God so this way we can, catch him we can trap him yes at another, one I will write a law and then we will, trick King Darius into signing it and, once the law is made it can't be changed, and once Daniel breaks that law then, he'll be in big trouble this was the, rule for the kingdom of the Medes and, Persians once the king signed a law the, law could not be changed so they were, going to try to trick the king those, wicked scheming rulers were up to no, good, and soon the law was written they had, written out the law and they wrote it on, a scroll and they brought it to the king, all it needed was the Kings signature, and then it would be a law and no one, could change it so they brought it to, the king and those crafty rulers bow, down to the king and they flattered him, with their kind words they were so kind, to the king because they really wanted, him to sign this law so let's read what, happened, chapter 6 verses 6 & 7 it says Benny's, presidents and princesses assembled, together to the king and said unto him, King Darius live forever all the, presidents of the kingdom and the, governors and the princess and the, councilors and the captains we have, consulted together to establish a royal, statute and to make a firm decree that, whosoever shall ask a petition of any, God or man for 30 days save of the O, king he shall be cast into a den of, lions oh my goodness well well well King, Darius liked the sound of this this law, said that no one could ask or pray to, anyone except for him for 30 days and, that made him feel pretty important so, he liked the idea of half of having, everyone come to him to ask for things, and if all of his rulers wanted to honor, him in this way then why stopped him he, said I'll sign this and so he signed the, law and remembered no one could change, this law once it was signed it was done, well what do you think Daniel did when, he heard that this law had been signed, do you think he panicked no he did not, Daniel went to his house and prayed and, talked to God he kept on doing what he, had always done, he had always prayed and talked to God, because he knew it was important and so, he continued to do this no law and no, rule would change what he was going to, do they're scheming rulers wouldn't keep, Daniel from talking to God Daniel knew, that if he prayed to King Darius that, would be like thinking that the king was, a god and he knew this was wrong he knew, that tree, the King rocket God was wrong and he had, decided long ago and he was young that, he would obey God no matter what and so, he knelt and he prayed out his window of, his house this was all part of the, rulers wicked plan they waited and, watched remember I told you earlier that, they spied on Daniel to find something, that he had done wrong so they knew that, every day he would pray to God and so, they waited and watched for him because, they were going to catch him praying and, asking God for things when we pray, that's when you talk to God, sometimes when you pray you ask God for, things sometimes you just thank him for, things so praying is talking to God and, they knew they would find Daniel doing, this so as soon as they saw Daniel, praying to God they ran to King Darius, to tattle on Daniel so let's read Daniel, chapter 6 verse 12 it says then they, came near and spake before the king, concerning the Kings decree and they, said has found out signed a decree that, every man shall not ask a petition of, any god or any man for thirty days save, of the O king shall be cast into the den, of lions the King answered and said the, thing is true according to the law of, the Medes and Persians which altar is, not they said King didn't you sign this, law and he said yes I've signed such a, law why what's the problem I'm signing, the law and then they told the king they, answered then they answered and said, before the king that Daniel which is of, the children of the captivity of Judah, he regarded not the oking nor the decree, that thou has signed but maketh his, petition petition three times a day, they said Daniel asked and pray, to his god three times a day he is, ignoring your rule your law, guess what King Darius was not happy he, was very displeased first he was angry, at his self he had allowed these men to, flatter and trick him and then secondly, he was mad at these men because he was, mad at the presidents and the princes, for coming up with this evil plan to get, rid of Daniel so he was upset with his, self for letting them trick him and then, he was upset with them for their evil, plan but what could be done about it the, law was the law remember the law, couldn't be changed even the king could, not change the law now that was the rule, so what would he do all day King Darius, thought and thought surely there must be, some way he could help Daniel get out of, this problem he would paced the floor, and he wrapped his brain oh no what, could he do but he could think of, nothing all day he tried but he could, think of nothing and that evening they, came to him and said Oh King you know, what the penalty was for disobeying this, law this law breaker has to be thrown, into the den of lions and the law cannot, be changed finally King Darius threw his, hands in the air in frustration very, well he said take Daniel to the lion's, den I will meet you there the lion's den, was in the ground it was sort of like a, cave that would be underground, and a large stone would be on top of it, and they would cover it so the Lions, could not get out the Lions were, ferocious and they were always hungry, and they would eat anything that came, into the lion's den and this certainly, looked hopeless for poor Daniel because, he was, get thrown into this lion's den let's, look at the Bible in Daniel chapter 6, verse 16 then the king commanded and, they brought Daniel he cast him into the, den of lions now the King spake unto, Daniel by God who now service, continually he will deliver thee this is, what the King told him this is what the, King Darius said to Daniel right before, they threw him in the lion's den he told, Daniel he said the god you serve he will, deliver you this is very interesting, even King Darius was trusting in, Daniel's God to save him there are the, Lions in the lion's den there's some big, lions, here's Daniel Daniel was hurled into the, lion's den and the stone was placed over, the hole and the sorrowful King went, back to his palace and he could not, sleep he couldn't he wouldn't eat, anything and he would not let him play, music for him to try to help him fall, asleep he would not do that he did not, sleep a wink he was so sorrowful for, Daniel he just tossed and turned all, night but very early in the morning the, next morning he got up and he ran to the, lion's den and he commanded that the, stone be rolled away and removed from, the den and he looked down into the, lion's den and he said Daniel was your, God able to save you from the Lions and, the king waited and he listened had the, worst happened to Daniel had he been, eaten and then he heard Daniel and, Daniel said O king live forever my God, sent his angel and he shut the Lions, mouths and they have not hurt me and, King Darius was absolutely astonished, that Daniel was not hurt and he, commanded that, you'll be lifted up out of the Lions Den, and they brought Daniel up and the King, was so excited that Daniel was not hurt, perhaps they even gave him a big hug he, was so excited that God had protected, him he was astonished and overjoyed I, can't imagine that the king was very, happy but then suddenly he became very, angry when he remembered those evil, wicked princess and kitten presidents, and he said bring them to me guess what, the King was going to do with these, wicked men, let's read Daniel chapter 6 and verse 24, and the king commanded and they brought, those men which had accused Daniel and, they cast them into the den of lions so, their evil plan did not work to get, Daniel hurt but now they were thrown, into the Lions Den King Darius had the, rulers and their families thrown into, the Lions Den and the Bible says before, they even hit the bottom of the Lions, Den the Lions had eaten them all up and, then King Darius made a new rule in the, land and a great crowd gathered while he, read his new rule are you ready to hear, it, let's look at verse 26 and 27 the Bible, says this is what King Darius said I, make a decree that in every dominion of, my kingdom men tremble in fear before, the God of Daniel for he is the Living, God and steadfast forever and his, kingdom that which shall not be, destroyed and his Dominion shall be even, unto the end he delivereth and rescue it, and he worketh signs and wonders in, heaven and earth who had delivered, Daniel from the power, the Lions this was amazing that the king, made a new law for everyone to honor, Daniel's God because the king realized, that Daniels God could rescue him in, Daniels God did because he is the one, true God, Daniel was an old man when he was thrown, into the Lions Den but he had learned, over and over again that he could trust, God he knew that God loved him and he, cared for him he knew that obeying God, and obeying God's Word was always the, right choice to make and he trusted God, with the rest no matter what would, happen you know you probably will never, be threatened to be thrown into a lion's, den but Satan will probably tempt you to, sin and other people might say hmm sins, not really that bad and it can even be, fun sometimes they'll tell you but, remember that God is always right and, God's Way is always best God is holy and, God is true and what he says is right, and good you know standing up for what, is right and obeying God is always the, best choice and we can trust God to give, us the courage to honor and obey Him, just like he gave courage to Daniel to, do what was right so I hope you remember, that this week that God will give you, courage to obey Him and that you can, trust him our Bible verse for today is, Psalm 9 verse 10 and it says and they, that know that name, will put their trust in me for that Lord, has not forsaken them that seek me Psalm, 9 verse 10 look at the beginning of the, verse what do we need to know before we, can trust God the Bible says and they, that know thy name will put their trust, in thee the Bible says that if we know, God's name we can trust him this doesn't, mean just knowing God's name he has lots, of names like, in Jesus and Heavenly Father it doesn't, mean just knowing the name or maybe, knowing how to write the name it, actually means that when those people, that know God's character that know what, he is about what he's known for who he, is and that makes much more sense to, know who God is and if you know who God, is then you can trust him, think about it when we know that God is, faithful and powerful and true and right, and good it leads us to trust him we can, trust God because we know him and this, is what Daniel did he knew God so he, knew he could trust him he knew God had, a good plan and he knew that God was, good and he knew he could trust him the, second part of the verse what does it, tell us that God will not do it promises, that God will not do something it says, for thou the Lord has not forsaken them, that seek thee the Bible promises that, he will not forsake those who trust him, who search and trust for him who search, for him and trust this means this word, forsake means that God will never, abandon us or leave us alone God will, never give up on us when we trust him, he's not gonna forget about us he will, not forsake us and this is very, important to know about God and the way, that you know these things about God is, learning his word this teaches us about, the character of God it's important so, let's learn this first together Psalm 9, verse 10 says and they that know thy, name will put their trust in thee for, thou Lord has not forsaken them that, seek thee Psalm 9 verse 10 if you look, closely we have two years two eyes and a, nose, the tail and some feet it has our Bible, verse on it so what you need to do is, color the eyes and the ears and the nose, and then we will make a craft you will, need two paper plates you will need one, that's eight inches and one that's, smaller if you don't have plates you can, just cut out circles that are about this, size and make your craft anyway this is, what your craft will look like when, you're finished it's a lion it will help, you to remember your verse you can make, the lion and it has the verse on it and, you can look at it this week and, memorize the verse because it's, important to learn the verse hide God's, word in your heart you will have to, color your paper plate to look like the, lion's mane and then you can glue or, tape the Lions face I hope you have fun, doing this project and it'll be a fun, thing to do and it'll also help you to, remember your Bible hosts I hope you, enjoyed our lesson today it's
